Answer: Mary Surratt

Mary Surratt was the first woman to be executed by a military tribunal in the U.S. She was found guilty of treason in the conspiracy to kidnap or assassinate President Abraham Lincoln and other high-ranking government officials. She was publicly hanged on July 7, 1865.
2. What were the last reputed words of President John Kennedy?

Answer: "No, you certainly can't."

Texas Governor John Connelly's wife had just said to Kennedy, "You certainly cannot say that the people of Dallas haven't given you a nice welcome, Mr. President." Kennedy had just replied when shots rang out in Dealey Plaza, killing him.
3. "Don't you dare ask God to help me!" was the last utterance by what well-known American?

Answer: Joan Crawford

Joan was a famous movie actress, appearing in dozens of films in her 45 year career. Some of her best-known films include "Humoresque" (1946), "Mildred Pierce" (1946), "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) and "Grand Hotel" (1932). Retiring in 1970, she had been in ill health for years before her death.

When her caregivers saw she was dying, they started to offer a prayer. That's when Joan said her last words.
4. "I should have never switched from Scotch to martinis." were the last known words of noted actor Humphrey Bogart.

Answer: False

It is generally alleged that he uttered this phrase as his last, but his wife, Lauren Bacall, reported that he said to her "Goodbye, kid. Hurry back" when she saw the end was near and left him to get their children. When she returned, Bogart was in a coma and never regained consciousness.
5. What were Kurt Cobain last words - written, not spoken?

Answer: "It's better to burn out than to fade away."

These words weren't spoken, but left in a suicide letter addressed to his imaginary friend 'Boddah'. Cobain formed the rock band Nirvana, but suffered since childhood from asthma and severe abdominal pain. The troubled musician made a previous unsuccessful suicide attempt, failed drug rehab, but finally shot himself on April 5, 1994.
6. What is comic actor Spike Milligan's epitaph?

Answer: "I told you I was ill."

As the writer of and performer on the "Goon Show" and "Q" series, he influenced many British comedy writers and performers in the late 20th century. It's generally accepted that "Monty Python's Flying Circus" would not have existed without Milligan's inspiration. He suffered from liver disease and passed away on February 27, 2002.
7. "Now I can cross the shifting sands." is purportedly the last phrase said by what notable person?

Answer: L. Frank Baum

9. "Die, my dear? Why, that's the last thing I'll do!" is reported to be the final words of what comic actor?

Answer: Groucho Marx

Quick-witted Groucho (Julius Henry Marx) was always ready with a double entendre wisecrack, even on his deathbed. He was the longest-lived of the famous Marx Brothers comedy team, passing in August 1977, just a few weeks shy of his 87th birthday.
10. "I'm bored with it all." was the last reported utterance by which well-known personage.
