He suffered from a fear of dirt and germs as well as social avoidance disorder, and the combination of these two things ultimately led to him leading a completely reclusive and increasingly bizarre life. He refused to have his hair or nails trimmed and moved from hotel to hotel (most of which he owned).

At the time of his death in 1976 he was suffering from malnutrition and kidney failure.

Donald Trump, of the distinctive hair style and star of "The Apprentice" in America, refuses to press the ground floor buttons in lifts. His fear of germs also means that he refuses to shake hands with people, especially, for some unexplained reason, teachers.

David Beckham has to have everything in perfect order, and in pairs. If there are three of something on a table he has to either have one taken away or one added. She has also said she washes her hands "many times a day", and tries to open doors with her elbow. Wiping door handles, toilet handles, banister rails, anything touched by a lot of people, is one of the most common forms of germ phobia.
