Abbie Hoffman was the co-founder of the Youth International Party, the members of which were referred to as "Yippies".
2. Hoffman was behind many pranks, something he called "guerilla theater", and this was one of them: What was the goal of a mass demonstration held by Hoffman at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War?

Hoffman's plan was to have protesters circle the Pentagon and use their psychic energy to make it levitate.
3. What happened during a protest held at the New York Stock Exchange?

Answer: Protesters threw fake dollar bills, which stockbrokers frantically tried to grab

Protesters threw piles of fake dollar bills onto the floor of the stock exchange, causing the employees at the stock exchange to go wild trying to grab the money. This demonstration of greed was exactly the reaction Hoffman was aiming for.

Answer: 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago

Abbie was arrested during a protest held during the 1968 Democratic National Convention for conspiracy and inciting to riot. This led to the famous trial of "The Chicago Seven". You can find more information about this important event at your library or on the web.
5. Whose performance at Woodstock, 1969 did Abbie interrupt to make a speech against the arrest of John Sinclair, of the White Panther Party?

Answer: The Who

Abbie came onstage in the middle of a performance by The Who. Pete Townshend, even though he agreed with Hoffman, interrupted his speech and hit him with a guitar, knocking Hoffman off the stage. I guess Pete is a stickler for manners!
6. What movie chronicled the life of Abbie Hoffman?

Answer: Steal This Movie

The answer is "Steal This Movie", a play off of the title of one of Abbie's most famous books, "Steal This Book." The movie documents Abbie's life after he became involved in political activism, including the Chicago Seven trial, his marriage, and the years he spent "underground" to avoid arrest.
7. What psychological disorder was Abbie diagnosed with in 1980?

8. What year was Abbott "Abbie" Hoffman born?

Answer: 1936

Abbie was born into his Jewish family in Worcester, Massachusetts on November 30, 1936. This is the same year that Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers was born.
9. What was the "official" cause of Abbie's death?

Answer: suicide

Abbie was found dead of an apparent suicide in his home in New Hope, Pennsylvania on April 12, 1989. There has been speculation it was connected to his mother's recent diagnosis of cancer.
10. Which of the following is NOT a book written by Abbie Hoffman?

Answer: Live Free

"Revolution For The Hell of It", "Steal This Book" and "Steal This Urine Test" were all written by Hoffman. My copy of "Revolution For the Hell of It" notes it was written by "Free", one of Hoffman's aliases (he also used the alias Barry Freed). I have not been able to ever find a book called "Live Free", but it is a great title!
