Much has been written about Diana both during her lifetime and even more since her tragic death in Paris in 1997. She remains a beloved icon to the British public and will always be "The People's Princess".

Answer: Emmeline Pankhurst

Emmeline Pankhurst (1858 - 1928). A leading figure in the suffragette movement, Mrs Pankhurst led the campaign to win the right for women to vote. Her daughters Christabel and Sylvia were also leading figures in the often bloody fight for "Votes for Women". Like many suffragettes, Emmeline was arrested on many occasions and went on hunger strike which resulted in violent force feeding.

It seems the British public have very strong opinions when it comes to the indomitable Mrs Thatcher - they either love her or loathe her!

Widely acknowledged as a footballing genius, Best was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1946 and signed for Manchester United as a professional player at the age of 17.

His good looks and charm brought him a pop star image during the 1960's and he adapted very well to the playboy life! Thousands of mourners lined the wet and windy streets of Belfast in December 2005 to say a final goodbye to a legend.

Wellington's finest hour came in 1815 when he marched his troops into Belgium where Napoleon had gathered his army. At a place called Waterloo the French and British armies met for what was to be a final battle. Wellington inflicted an overwhelming defeat on Napoleon.

He was one of the most successful and flamboyant playwrights of late Victorian London with his most popular plays such as "The Importance of Being Earnest", "Lady Windermere's Fan" and "An Ideal Husband" still being revived in theatres throughout the world.

Despite his undoubted genius, his controversial lifestyle ultimately led to his downfall.

He died and was buried in Paris.

Isaac Newton (1643-1727) is often referred to as the greatest ever Englishman and is undoubtedly the most influential scientist and mathematician who ever lived. He has been often described as a difficult man, suffering long bouts of depression and often at bitter odds with fellow scientists.

He was buried with much ceremony in Westminster Abbey - the first scientist to receive such an honour.
