Kenneth Kaunda (b.1924) became the first President of Zambia when it gained independence from the United Kingdom in October 1964. He held the position from 1964-1991 until his party was beaten in a landslide victory by his opponent Frederick Chiluba in multiparty election. Under Kenneth Kuanda's leadership he led a one party state from 1973-1990.

Ken Kesey (1935-2001) was an American novelist best know for his novel "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 1962. The novel was adapted to the stage in 1963 and then to the big screen in 1975 winning five Academy Awards. Ken was part of the Beat Generation of the 1950s, exploring American culture and politics in the post-war era and the hippie counterculture movement of the 1960s.
