Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What's the answer when you take the age Joseph was when appointed the second most powerful man in Egypt by the Pharaoh and divide by the number of books in the New Testament that start with the letter 'R'? (Genesis 41:46)

Answer: 15

Joseph was thirty years old when the Pharaoh made him the second most powerful man in Egypt, according to Genesis 41:46. Meanwhile, two books in the New Testament start with the letter 'R'. They are Romans and Revelation. Take thirty and divide by two and you get fifteen, our answer.

Incredibly, Joseph had been sold into slavery and then tossed into a prison on false charges before he ascended to become the second most powerful man in Egypt. His story is told in Chapter 37 through Chapter 50 of Genesis.
2. What's the answer when you take the number of friends who INITIALLY visited Job and attempted to comfort him after his ordeal and multiply by the number of fishermen Jesus appointed as part of the Twelve Disciples? (Job 2:11 and Matthew 4:18-22)

Answer: 12

According to Scripture, Job was initially visited by three friends and four of the twelve disciples Jesus appointed were fishermen. Take three and multiply by four and you get our answer, twelve.

Job's three friends -- Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar -- visited him after he was clobbered by all sorts of problems -- everything from losing his immense wealth to his seven sons and three daughters. (A fourth man, Elihu, would visit Job later.) However, it seems his friends didn't offer any comfort and generally made things worse for Job.

The book of Job has a happy ending, however. Job 42:12-17 states: "Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch. In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. So Job died, old and full of days."

The four fishermen Jesus appointed as disciples were Peter, Andrew, James and John. Matthew 4:18-22 tells of the four leaving their jobs as fishermen to follow Jesus. The passage in the NKJV states: "And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.' They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him."
3. What's the answer when you take the number of children Abraham and Hagar had and add on the number of disciples who received the Great Commission from Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew? (Genesis 16:15 and Matthew 28:16)

Answer: 12

Abraham and Hagar had one child together, Ishmael. Meanwhile, 'The Great Commission' was instructions Jesus gave to the eleven disciples to make disciples of all the nations and to baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Take one and add on eleven and you get twelve, our answer.

In regards to the Great Commission, here's how Matthew 28:16-19 reads in the NKJV:
"Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age'. Amen."

The Great Commission was given to eleven disciples, not twelve, as Judas Iscariot had committed suicide as per Matthew 27:3-10. According to Scripture, Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver and after being filled with tremendous remorse, he took his own life.
4. What's the answer when you take the age Abraham was when Isaac was born and add on the number of elders falling down "before Him who sits on the throne" and worshiping Him "who lives forever and ever"? (Genesis 21:5 and Revelation 4:10)

Answer: 124

Abraham, according to Scripture, was one hundred years old when Isaac was born. Meanwhile, Revelation 4:10 tells of twenty-four elders worshiping Christ. Take one hundred and add on twenty-four and you get our answer, one hundred and twenty-four.

In addition to Abraham being one hundred years old at the time of Isaac's birth, his wife Sarah was ninety years old, according to Genesis 17:17.

Revelation 4:10 states twenty-four elders fell down "before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
'You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created'."
5. What's the answer when you take the number of years it did not rain during the days of Elijah and add on the number of righteous people Jesus said who don't need to repent when He told the Parable of the Lost Sheep? (1 Kings 18:1 and Luke 15:7)

Answer: 102

According to Scripture it did not rain for three years during the days of Elijah. Meanwhile, Jesus is quoted as saying "there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than ninety-nine righteous people who do not need to repent." Take ninety-nine and add on three and you get our answer, one hundred and two.

1 Kings 17 tells of Elijah proclaiming the drought to King Ahab, his bitter adversary. Chapter 18 begins with Elijah announcing "in the third year" the drought was coming to an end. The chapter concludes with a dramatic showdown on Mount Carmel between Elijah and four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and rain falling on the land after Elijah's dramatic victory on the mountain.

Meanwhile, in the Parable of the Lost Sheep, Jesus makes reference to there being more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than ninety-nine righteous people who do not need to repent. Here's how the parable of the Lost Sheep reads in Luke 15:1-7 in the NKJV:
"Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying' "This Man receives sinners and eats with them'. So He spoke this parable to them, saying: 'What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
6. What's the answer when you take the number of wives of Joseph in the Old Testament and add on the number of fish a little boy gave Jesus to feed the multitude? (Genesis 41:45 and John 6:9)

Answer: 3

Bit of a trick question here. Joseph, according to Scripture, had only one wife. Meanwhile, Scripture tells of a little boy giving Jesus two small fish (along with five loaves of bread) to feed the multitude. Take one and add on two and you get our answer, three.

According to Genesis 41:50, Joseph's wife was Asenath, daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On. Scripture goes on to state they were the parents of two boys, Manasseh and Ephraim.

According to John 16:1-14, Jesus took five barley loaves and "two small fish" and fed a multitude consisting of five thousand men. However, many theologians believe Jesus fed as many as fifteen thousand people because the number of those fed does not include women and children. As per the custom of the day, women and children were not included in census figures and the like.
7. What's the answer when you take the number of days it rained during the Great Flood and subtract the number of disciples Jesus took with Him to the Mount of Transfiguration? (Genesis 7:4 and Matthew 17:1)

Answer: 37

According to Scripture it rained for forty days and forty nights during Great flood. Meanwhile, Matthew 17:1 states Jesus took three disciples -- Peter, James and John -- to the Mount of Transfiguration. Take forty and subtract three and you get our answer, thirty-seven.

According to Scripture, eight people were saved on the ark. Those saved were Noah and his wife as well as his three sons and their wives. The sons' names were Shem, Ham and Japheth. The account of Noah and his wife and his three sons and their wives entering the ark to escape the floodwaters can be found in Genesis 7:13.

Matthew 17:3 states Moses and Elijah also appeared on Mount Transfiguration.

Matthew 17:5-7, in the NKJV, goes on to state: "...behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!' And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, 'Arise, and do not be afraid.' When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only."
8. What's the answer when you take the number of sets of twins born in Genesis and and add on the number of people who survived Paul's shipwreck off the coast of Malta? (Genesis 25:24-26, Genesis 38:27-30 and Acts 27)

Answer: 278

The birth of two sets of twins are documented in Genesis. They are Rebekah giving birth to Esau and Jacob (Genesis 25:24-26) and Tamar giving birth to Perez and Zerah (Genesis 38:27-30). Meanwhile, Acts 27:37 states there were two hundred and seventy-six persons on Paul's ship that was battered in a major storm on the Mediterranean Sea. According to Acts 27:44, everyone "escaped safely to land". Take two and add on two hundred and seventy-six and you get our answer, two hundred and seventy-eight.

According to Scripture, the survivors of the shipwreck ended up on the island of Malta and Paul used the occasion to preach the news of a resurrected Jesus Christ.
9. What's the answer when you take the number of books in the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament of the Protestant Bible and subtract the number of seals on a scroll held by the Lamb? (Revelation 5:1)

Answer: 5

The correct answer is five. There are twelve books in the Minor Prophet section of the Protestant Bible and a scroll held by the Lamb had seven seals on it, according to Revelation 5:1.

The twelve books in the Minor Prophet section are:
1.) Hosea
2.) Joel
3.) Amos
4.) Obadiah
5.) Jonah
6.) Micah
7.) Nahum
8.) Habakkuk
9.) Zephaniah
10.) Haggai
11.) Zechariah
12.) Malachi

Meanwhile, Revelation 5:1 tells of the Lamb holding a scroll sealed with seven seals, as per a vision of John, the writer of Revelation.
10. What's the answer when you take the number of husbands Tamar had before her relationship with her father-in-law Judah in Genesis and multiply by the number of years a woman had a profuse bleeding problem and was cured when she secretly touched Jesus? (Genesis 38:6-10 and Luke 8:43)

Answer: 24

According to Scripture, Tamar had two husbands, Er and Onan, who were both sons of Judah. Scripture states both of her husbands were struck dead because of wickedness. Meanwhile, Scripture states the woman in Luke had a severe bleeding problem for twelve years and no doctor could heal her. Take two and multiply by twelve and you get our answer, twenty-four.

After the deaths of Tamar's two husbands, she became impregnated by her father-in-law Judah and gave birth to twin boys. As per Genesis 38:29-30, the twins were called Perez and Zerah.

The account of the woman with the bleeding problem and secretly touching Jesus and being healed is found in Matthew 9:18-26, Mark 5:21:43 and Luke 8:40-56. In each account, the details are sandwiched between information about Jesus raising Jairus' twelve-year-old daughter from the dead.
