(Matthew 27:17) They all replied, "Barabbas!" Then Pilate said "What shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all shouted out, "Let him be crucified!" Pilate asked what evil Jesus had done, but the crowd kept crying out, "Crucify him! Crucify him!" (Matthew 27:21-23)

The eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee and met Jesus there. Jesus said to them, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20) This was known as the Great Commission. Jesus wanted his disciples to go out and bring people to the Lord and make them disciples too.

He wanted to create a great kingdom of the Lord. According to the teachings of most Christian churches, this whole story of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection is one of the most profound stories in the Bible.

It tells of how Jesus gave his life for our sins. He could have stopped the torture at any time, but he let it continue, so we would not have to go through torture for our sins. He took the pain and sorrow that we should have been receiving. According to Christian tradition, if it weren't for him, the world would be a living torment for everyone who sinned. And that is every single person on this earth. Nobody is perfect, the only perfect one is Jesus Christ, the one who died for us all.
