Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To what country did Jesus and his family flee in Luke when Herod was trying to kill him?

Answer: Egypt

Matthew Chapter 2, verse 13, says: "When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. 'Get up,' he said, 'take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.'" So Joseph took his family and fled to Egypt until they received word that Herod was dead (Matthew 2:15.) Then the family returned to their native home in Galilee.
2. Which one of these is the name of the third book in the New Testament?

Answer: Luke

Luke made his living as a medical doctor and his book, Luke, is the third in the first four books of the New Testaments. These are known as the Four Gospels.
3. Who succeeded David as king of Israel in 1 Kings 1:39?

Answer: Solomon

Solomon is said to be the wisest man that ever lived. He is credited with the phrase "There is nothing new under the sun" (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
4. After Mary Magdalene and the other Mary had been told by the Angel of the Lord that Christ had risen, who appeared to them in Matthew 28:9 while they were on their way to tell the disciples?

Answer: Jesus

Matthew 28, verses 1-10 describes the scene: "After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

"There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

"The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you.'"

"So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him."
5. Which two men in the Old Testament were taken up to Heaven without experiencing death?

Answer: Enoch and Elijah

Elijah was taken up to Heaven without dying (2 Kings 2:1), as was Enoch (Genesis 5:24). They are the only two people in the Bible who were taken into Heaven without experiencing death.
6. What animal in Numbers chapter 22 spoke to the man riding him?

Answer: a donkey

This is one of my favorite scenes from the Bible. I laugh every time I think about that donkey. I highly recommend the story of Balaam and his donkey, which can be found in Numbers 22. Balaam was trying to get past an angel of the Lord, which only the donkey could see.
7. What is the last chapter in Revelation?

Answer: Chapter 22

Revelation is the last book in the Bible and contains prophecies of the events leading up to the end of the world. There have been many books written on Revelation, but perhaps one of the best known is by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. It is a series called "Left Behind" that gives a fictional account of a group of people living during the last days.

They have also written many other books on the subject due, in part, to the wide success of the "Left Behind" series.
8. In what book in the New Testament is the following verse found? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Answer: John

This is the very first verse of John, the last of the four Gospels.
9. According to the Book of Acts, how many people were converted to Christianity on the day of Pentecost?

Answer: about 3,000

The Bible says that, after Peter was finished speaking to a crowd, about three thousand accepted Christ (Acts 2:41).
10. After Moses fled to Midian in Exodus Chapter 2, who spoke to him from the burning bush at Mount Horeb?

Answer: God

Moses was tending his flock near Mount Horeb when he noticed a burning bush. As he watched, the bush continued burning. Amazed at the fact that it hadn't burned to the ground, he decided to go see why.
Exodus 3:4 continues the story: "When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, 'Moses! Moses!'"
