According to the The Concise Oxford Dictionary of World Religions (2003), the authoritative Buddhist texts are referred to as Tipitaka, which means three baskets in Sanskrit. The three baskets refer to how the manuscripts, which were made of palm leaves, were stored in three different baskets.

The Bible is a collection of religious texts used by several religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Samaritanism, and Rastafarianism. The Catholic Bible is a general term for the Holy Bible. One of the main bibles is the King James Version, sponsored by James V/VI who ruled over Scotland and then England and Ireland. He was born in 1566 and died in 1625.

Wicca is a modern pagan religion formed in the 20th century. Though devotees do not consider its texts sacred, they nonetheless have books that document their beliefs. The Book of Shadows is one of these and has been described as "a personal cookbook of spells."
