Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she _________." (1 Chronicles 15: 25-29) What finishes the King James verse?

Answer: despised him in her heart

While it is not clear why this wife of David despised him in this passage, it might be inferred that she was not happy about the ark returning, or it may have been jealousy. Regardless, she was not in God's will, because she otherwise would have been happy to see the king elated at God's covenant returning to the land.
2. "I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own _______." (Isaiah 65:1-5) Give the word that completes the King James verse.

Answer: thoughts

This may be seen as God's recrimination against those who despise His will and apply their own thinking to their lives instead of trusting in His judgement.
3. "And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of _________, saith the Lord thy God." (Amos 9:15) Which phrase finishes the quotation from the King James Bible?

Answer: their land which I have given them

Beginning in the 11th verse of this passage, we see five promises that God makes to Israel.
1) He will raise them up; close the breaches, (protect) and rebuild the ruins.
2) they will possess the remnant of Edom, (south of Israel).
3) their abundance shall overflow.
4) He will bring them captive to His will again.
5) He will plant them in their land.
4. "But all things that are reproved (exposed), are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead and __________" (Ephesians 5:6-14) What does this King James verse promise to those risen from the dead?

Answer: Christ shall give thee light.

This composite quotation by Paul in the New Testament is actually found in two separate passages in Isaiah 26:19 and 60:1. Christians interpret these passages as foreshadowings of Christ:
Isaiah 26:19 says, "Thy dead men shall live, together with my body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead."
Isaiah 60:1 reads, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee."
5. "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with a fervent heat, the earth also and ___________ shall be burned up." (2 Peter 3:8-14) What does the King James Bible say shall be burned up?

Answer: the works that are therein

Many people focus on the beginning of the verse and believe that God is going to "spirit away" his people quietly, but by reading on, we see that the loud noise and terrible heat seems to render that impossible.
The comparison to a "thief" merely seems to point to the surprise that a thief uses to accomplish his burglary. If one were expecting him, one would remain vigilant and on guard.
The 13th verse promises new heavens and a new earth.
6. (You) "have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of ___________" (Colossians 3:5-11) Who or what does this King James verse say is depicted in the image?

Answer: him that created him

In the tenth verse of this passage, we read that God, who created man (and not vice versa), renews our minds with knowledge of Himself.
7. "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ____________" (Jude, the only chapter, vs. 14) With whom or what does the King James Bible say the Lord comes?

Answer: ten thousands of his saints

Notice the plural form used, ten thousand-S. This is more than an exact ten thousand; many more.
Another note: Enoch is in the seventh GENERATION from Adam, not the seventh human in existence.
Another item of interest: This book is believed by many to have been written by the brother of James, who wrote a book in the New Testament by that title, and both of them were half-brothers of Jesus, along with Simon and Joses (Joseph Jr., if you will). They also had some sisters, but we do not know their names. These were the children of Joseph and Mary, all born after Jesus, who was the son of Mary and the Holy Ghost of God, according to Christian beliefs.
8. "Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect __________?" (Galatians 3: 1-5) What King James Bible phrase finishes this question?

Answer: by the flesh

Paul seems to be trying to convey the concept of spiritual growth, as opposed to man's natural thinking processes, in this passage.
9. "Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the ______"? (Malachi chapter 4, verse 5) What time does this King James quotation refer to?

Answer: great and dreadful day of the Lord

Some believe that John the Baptist, who baptized Jesus, had the spirit of Elijah on him, while others maintain that this is one of the two witnesses spoken of in Revelation 11:3-13. While either interpretation, or even both or even another one may be correct, God promises through Malachi that he will come to turn the hearts of the people to each other in love.
10. "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is ________" (1 Corinthians 15: 20-28) Finish this quotation from the King James Bible.

Answer: death

In the 26th verse we find that death is the enemy of man and is the last one that has been conquered by Jesus, according to Christian beliefs.
