Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How are Solomon and David related?

Answer: Solomon is David's son

II Chronicles 1:1 "And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly."

In 1993, a stone figure was found in Dan with the words "House of David." They believe this was the same David as the David who was Solomon's father. (www.biblehistory.net)
2. According to Chapter 5 of the King James Version, what were the only things in the Ark of the Covenant?

Answer: two tables

II Chronicles 5:10 "There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt."

According to www.jewishencylopedia.com the tables of Moses were six handbreadths in length. One handbreadth is equal to about four inches.
In some versions it does say tablets, but in the King James Version it was written as tables.
3. Who built Bethlehem, Etam, and Teko?

Answer: Rehoboam

II Chronicles 11: 5-6: "And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defence in Judah. He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa."

Rehoboam was the son of King Solomon. David was Rehoboam's grandfather.
4. How old was Joash when he began to reign?

Answer: Seven

II Chronicles 24:1 "Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beersheba."

When Joash was a baby his Aunt Jehosheba saved his life from a murder attempt. Joash's mother was going to kill him, and she had killed all the other males in her family after seizing the throne herself when her husband, Ahaziah died. 5. With what kind of heart did Amaziah do everything?

Answer: imperfect

II Chronicles 25:2 "And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart."

Amaziah became king when he was 25, after his father Joash was assassinated. Joash was killed during a conflict caused by his allowing (and participating in) the worship of other gods. He was injured during a battle in which many of his people died, then killed by his own officers who were angry at this, and at his earlier killing of the prophets who had been pointing out the error of his ways. (II Chronicles 24:17-27)
6. What did the people of Ephraim, Manasseh and Zebulun do when the postman brought the letters about keeping Passover?

Answer: mocked them

II Chronicles 30:10 "So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them."
7. According to God, was Manasseh considered good or evil?

Answer: evil

II Chronicles 33:2 "But did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel."

Manasseh made it his mission to destroy all the good his father ever did including rebuilding the pagan towers his father tore down. His father got rid of idolatry, Manasseh built altars to worship idols on. (http://www.geocities.com/thekingsofisrael/biography_Manasseh.html)
8. Whom did Jeremiah lament for?

Answer: Josiah

II Chronicles 35:29 "And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations."

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. Jeremiah was called the weeping prophet because the people's sins made him cry so much. (www.tftw.org)
9. With what did Nebuchadnezzer bind Jehoiakim? The answer is the specific word used in the King James Version.

Answer: fetters

II Chronicles 36:6 "Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon."

Jehoiakim had been tried and found guilty of treason.

A fetter is a chain or a shackle for the ankles or feet. (www.dictionary.com)
10. What is the last word of II Chronicles, according to the KJV?

Answer: up

II Chronicles 36:23 "Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The Lord his God be with him, and let him go up."

Cyrus was born about 600 BCE and is the founder of the Achaemenid Empire. (http://www.livius.org/ct-cz/cyrus_I/cyrus.html) The achaemenid was the first empire in Iran. (http://countrystudies.us/iran/3.htm).
