Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sarah and Rebekah were sisters.

Answer: False

False. Sarah and Rebekah were both matriarchs in the book of Genesis, but they were not sisters. Sarah was the mother-in-law of Rebekah, as Sarah was married to Abraham and the mother of Isaac. Isaac, of course, was the husband of Rebekah.

According to Scripture, Sarah and Rebekah never met. Genesis 24:67 tells of Isaac taking Rebekah as his wife after the death of his mother Sarah.
2. Lot and Moses often feuded with each other.

Answer: False

Lot and Moses lived in different time frames in the book of Genesis, and it's impossible for them to have any interaction with each other.

Lot is mentioned in a number of chapters in Genesis -- 12, 13, 14 and 19 -- while Moses appears numerous times in books such as Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
3. Reuben was the first-born son of Jacob.

Answer: True

Reuben was Jacob's first-born son, with Leah being the mother. Jacob fathered children with three other women in addition to Leah. The other women were Rachel, Bilhah and Zilpah.

Reuben's birth is recorded in Genesis 29:32.
4. When Hezekiah was gravely ill, he had fifteen years added to his life by God.

Answer: True

True. According to Scripture, King Hezekiah had fifteen years added to his life by God. 2 Kings 20 tells of a dying Hezekiah pouring his heart out to the LORD after Isaiah proclaimed the king's life was about to end. Shortly after Hezekiah poured out his heart, Scripture tells of Isaiah receiving divine instructions to inform the king of Israel fifteen years were being added to his life.
5. The last book in the Old Testament is Malachi.

Answer: True

True. Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament. It is part of the section of the Bible known as the Minor Prophets. (In the Hebrew Bible, it is part of the Twelve Prophets.) The name Malachi means "My Messenger".
6. The first miracle performed by Jesus was raising Lazarus from the dead.

Answer: False

False. The first miracle performed by Jesus involved turning water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana, as per John 2:1-12. Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus near the end of His three-year-long ministry. For details about Lazarus being raised from the dead, see John 11:1-44.
7. Jesus is credited with telling thirty-nine parables in the New Testament, but not one of them appears in the Gospel of John.

Answer: True

True. Jesus is credited with telling thirty-nine parables but none of them can be found in the Gospel of John. In other words, all the parables by Christ appear in the first three Gospels -- Matthew, Mark and Luke.

The main reason the Gospel of John does not contain a single parable by Jesus is the fact it largely concentrates on the final days of His ministry. The three other Gospels offer an overview of His three-year-long ministry.
8. Jesus calmed storms on the Sea of Galilee on two different occasions.

Answer: True

True. Scripture states Jesus calmed storms on the Sea of Galilee on two different occasions. Details of the first miracle can be found in Matthew 8, Mark 4 and Luke 8 while details of the second miracle can be found in Matthew 14 and Mark 6.
9. Titus raised Docas, also known as Tabitha, from the dead.

Answer: False

False. According to Acts 9:36-43, Dorcas, also known as Tabitha, was raised from the dead by Peter, one of the original Twelve Disciples.

Titus was a worker in the early church who served on the island of Crete, as per Titus 1:5. There is no documentation in Scripture of Titus performing any miracles.
10. Philemon was a run-away slave who was converted to Christianity by Paul.

Answer: False

False. Philemon was the owner of the run-away slave Onesimus who was converted to Christianity by Paul. The book of Philemon was written by Paul, urging Philemon to accept Onesimus as an equal in Christ. Out of the thirteen books Paul is credited with writing, Philemon is the shortest.
