Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, had eleven brothers and two sisters -- Dinah and Asenath.

Answer: False

False. While Joseph had eleven brothers, he had only one named sister, Dinah, according to Scripture. There seem to have been more (Genesis 37:35 refers to sons and daughters, although some scholars consider that word to refer to what we would call daughters-in-law), but they are not named. Asenath was Joseph's wife. She was the daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On. Joseph and Asenath were the parents of two boys -- Manasseh and Ephraim.
2. In addition to Sodom and Gamorrah, Ai was destroyed by brimstone and fire.

Answer: False

False. There is no documentation in Scripture about Ai being destroyed by brimstone and fire, a horrific fate faced by Sodom and Gommorah. The destruction of Sodom and Gommorah is recounted in Genesis 19:12-29.

It was at Ai that Joshua and the Israelites suffered a stinging military defeat, as per Joshua 7. The following chapter goes on to tell of the Israelites conquering the city.
3. Noah got drunk and impregnated his two daughters.

Answer: False

False. Lot's two daughters got him to impregnate them when he was drunk. There is no documentation in Scripture of Noah having any daughters. According to Scripture, Noah was father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.
4. Obadiah, an employee of Ahab and Jezebel, hid one hundred prophets of God in two caves to prevent his bosses from killing them.

Answer: True

True. Obadiah was in charge of King Ahab's household and he hid one hundred prophets of God in two caves, according to Scripture. This even though Ahab and his wife Jezebel were vehement opponents of the prophets and had committed themselves to killing them.

See 1 Kings 18:3-19 for details.
5. The Parable of the Good Samaritan is found in only the Gospel of Luke.

Answer: True

True. The Gospel of Luke is the only book in the Christian Bible which tells of the Parable of the Good Samaritan. A number of other parables are found in only Luke, with some of the titles being the Parable of the Prodigal Son, The Rich Man and Lazarus, The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant and the Great Supper.
6. Going strictly by Scripture, Peter was the only one of the original Twelve Disciples who was married.

Answer: True

True. Going strictly by Scripture, Peter was the only one of the original Twelve Disciples who was married. It is known Peter was married because Matthew 8:14 tells of Jesus healing his mother-in-law who was sick in bed with a fever. There is no indication any of the other disciples were married, although it is possible.

Indeed, In 1 Corinthians Paul refers to their right to be married, but none are identified explicitly as being married except Peter. However, with the question being based on "going strictly by Scripture", the correct answer has to be true.
7. Two of the original Twelve Disciples were called James.

Answer: True

True. Two of the original Twelve Disciples were called James. The most prominent James was the brother of John. Acts 12:1-2 states James was executed by Herod, making him the first of the Twelve Disciples to die a martyr.

The second James is known as James the Lesser. However, little is known about James the Lesser, although Mark 15:40 states that his mother's name was Mary.
8. According to Scripture, Timothy was sixteen years old when he became a worker in the early church.

Answer: False

False. Timothy was definitely young and timid but there is no documentation in Scripture about his age. In fact, no age is given in Scripture for any worker in the early church.
9. Paul's hometown was Alexandria.

Answer: False

False. Paul came from Tarsus, as per Acts 9:11. Tarsus was in Asia Minor, now known as Turkey. The city was the capital of the Roman province of Cilicia, according to Bibleplaces.com.

According to Acts 18:24, Apollos, a worker in the early church, was born in Alexandria.
10. No one knows the name of the person who wrote the Book of Revelation.

Answer: False

False. The last book in the Christian Bible was written by John while in exile on the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea, as per Revelation 1:9. While the writer's name is known, there is some dispute about the exact identity of John. Tradition holds he was one of the original Twelve Disciples, but some modern-day theologians believe the writer was another man called John.
