Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. For how much money was Jesus betrayed by Judas Iscariot? (Matthew 26:14-15).

Answer: 30 pieces of silver

Scripture states that Judas Iscariot agreed to turn Jesus over to the chief priests for 30 pieces of silver. "Then one of the Twelve -- the one called Judas Iscariot -- went to the chief priests and asked, 'What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?' So they counted out for him thirty silver coins." (Matthew 26: 14-15).
2. In Matthew 4:2, for how many days and nights did Jesus fast before being tempted by Satan?

Answer: 40

Scripture states Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. On three different occasions, Satan tried to tempt Jesus, but with no success. (Matthew 4:1-11).
3. Mark 14:3-9 tells of a woman anointing Jesus with an extremely expensive jar of perfume. Fill in the missing word in the following passage from the New International Version: "'Why this waste of perfume? It could have been sold for more than a ___ wages and the money given to the poor.' And they rebuked her harshly."

Answer: year's

To put things into perspective, consider the average annual wage in your country, and then you will have an idea how valuable the perfume would be at today's prices. Other translations give the price at "300 denari," but this doesn't relate as directly to modern prices!
4. In John 11:17, how many days had Lazarus been in the tomb before before being resurrected by Jesus?

Answer: 4

When Jesus told the people to take away the stone from the entrance to the tomb, the sister of Lazarus expressed a sense of futility at such an exercise. In verses 38 and 39, it states: "Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 'Take away the stone,' he said. 'But, Lord,' said Martha, the sister of the dead man, 'by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days'."
5. Luke 21:1-4 tells of a poor widow contributing to the temple treasury along with some rich people. How many small copper coins did she contribute?

Answer: 2

The story of the widow's offering is told this way by Luke: "As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 'I tell you the truth,' he said, 'this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on'."
6. Matthew 1:17 tells of the genealogy of Jesus, the son of David, the son of Abraham. In total, how many generations are listed from Abraham to Christ?

Answer: 42

Yes, 42 generations is the correct answer. Matthew 1:17 states: "Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ." In other words, 14 times 3 equals 42.
7. Revelation 7:1-8 tells of a large number of people who were "sealed" from all the tribes of Israel. How many people had the seal on their foreheads?

Answer: 144,000

Revelation 7: 3-4 states: "'Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God'. Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel." In other words, there were 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes: Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.
8. For how many days was Paul blinded after encountering Jesus on the road to Damascus? (Acts 9:9)

Answer: 3

In addition to being blind for three days, Scripture says Paul did not eat or drink anything in that time.
9. Acts 9:34 tells of Peter healing Aeneas, a paralytic man. How many years had he been bedridden?

Answer: 8

Acts 9:32-34 states: "As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the saints in Lydda. There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. 'Aeneas,' Peter said to him, 'Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat.' Immediately Aeneas got up."
10. In Revelation 11:2, for how many months does it say the Gentiles will trample on Jerusalem?

Answer: 42

The first two verses of Revelation 11 state: "I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, 'Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there. But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months'."
