Because temporary affliction and repentance don't bring long term change in the stubborn hearts of man, Pharaoh's heart was hardened after relief from all of the plagues, even the tenth which left pain and heartache on his entire kingdom. Exodus 8:13,16 hold the answer to the question: "And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields ... And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout the land of Egypt."

Answer: Rephidim

Exodus 17:8 says, "Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim."
This incident occurred shortly after Israel's murmuring over the lack of water where Moses struck the rock with his staff to provide for the nation.

Answer: Death

Fortunately for Joseph's brothers, this rule was not yet in place in their time. The Bible recorded in Exodus 21:16, "And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall be surely put to death."

Answer: Death

Exodus 31:15 says, "Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."
The seventh day belonged to the Lord, so in essence, anyone working was committing sacrilege to the sabbath and stealing time from the Lord. The day was set aside for worship, not work.

Answer: 29 talents and 730 shekels

Exodus 38:24 records, "All the gold that was occupied for the work in all the work of the holy place, even the gold of the offering was twenty and nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary."
The modern day equivalent of this weight is 2,200 pounds, or a metric ton of gold. If gold were priced at $1,000.00 per ounce, the worth of the gift would be $35,000,000.00 toward the building of the tabernacle. Though these are approximations because we don't know the exact equivalents, the illustration is to show the magnitude of the gift.

Answer: Burn it with fire

This was the night of the Israelites' liberation from bondage. They were to leave nothing behind, and be ready to leave. Exodus 12:10 recorded this: "And ye shall let none of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth until the morning ye shall burn with fire."

Answer: Joshua

Though Joshua was in all likelihood one of Moses' most trusted men, his name is not mentioned until Exodus 17:9 - "And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand."
The phrase "choose us out" would indicate there was already planning involved should battles or defense occur. They were peers of a sort in this respect at the very least, and some forty years later Joshua would lead the people into the promised land.

Answer: Only if the crime occurred at night

In Exodus 22:2,3 the law stated, "If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall be no blood be shed for him. If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution: if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft."
The principle may have arisen because during daylight the thief could be identified, or others would be awake in order to help restrain the thief, or he could be frightened off, so that deadly force would not be necessary.

Answer: The Israelites had turned to idol worship

Despite God's warning in Exodus 20:3-4 about having other Gods, the Israelites created a molten calf to worship because they assumed Moses dead because of his delay in returning. Unlike Moses his brother, Aaron crumbled when confronted by the people and participated in the sin.

In 32:7-8 God revealed the people's sin to Moses and sent him back down the mountain. In 32:10, the offer was made to Moses: "Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great people." By doing so, his promise to Abraham would have been intact as Moses descended from Abraham, but Moses' love for the people deterred the hand of God from making it a reality.

Exodus 22:20 says, "He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed."
Though the Israelites knew the law against worshipping idols in Exodus 22:20, they were ready to do so during Moses' delay on Mt Sinai. Were it not for Moses' intervention, God would have wiped the slate clean, and started anew with Moses.
