With the change of pitching rules allowing a pitcher to throw overhand, pitching became too dominating to continue at that distance.

Answer: Matt Kilroy

Kilroy had 513 strikeouts in 1886. He was nicknamed 'Matches' for good reason!

10. Who was the first player who hit 2 home runs in one game?

Answer: George Hall

Hall hit a league leading 5 home runs in 1876. Amazingly, he never hit another home run in his remaining 61 games of his career, having been blacklisted 2 years later for participating in throwing games for gamblers. Thus, was the first national scandal involving the National League.
