They defeated the Florida Everblades in round 1, 3 games to 1. Then in the 2nd round they avenged the previous season upset to the Royals by sweeping them 4 games to none. In the Eastern Conference Final, they beat the Wheeling Nailers 4 games to 2.

After getting a first round bye for being the top seed in the West, the Aces went 8-0 rolling easily over the Idaho Steelheads and Victoria Salmon Kings. The Ontario Reign missed the playoffs.

The Alaska Aces defeated the K-Wings 5-0 in game 1 for the only shutout of the series. Gerald Coleman made 25 saves for the shutout.

Game 2 went into OT. Just 7:33 into OT Alaska won it on a power play goal by a score of 3-2. Miller got the goal with assists from Howes and Irershwood. The goal was the 2nd of the night on PP for the Aces.

The K-Wings were down 2-0 heading into the 3rd period, but would rally. At 5:51, the rally started with Svendsen scoring his 5th goal of the playoffs, and Clarke and McGinnis get the assists. Then at 19:35 with goalie Ryan Nie out for the 6th attacker, Fournier scored to force overtime.

Thelen and Daavettila got the assist. They would lose in OT when Miller would score at 7:33 on the PP, Howes and Isherwood got the assists.

The Alaska Aces would hoist the Kelly Cup after the horn sounded in game 5. They took the series 4 games to 1. In game 5, Kalamazoo opened the scoring 2:58 into the 2nd with McGurik's 4th goal of the playoffs from O'Neill and Svendsen. Just 32 seconds later, the Aces answered with Ward's 1st of the playoffs from Swanson to tie it at one.

At 13:54 the Aces scored again, Langkow get the powerplay goal from Ward and Kissel at 13:54. Less then 2 minutes later, Kalamazoo answered with Thelen's 4th of the postseason from Daavettila at 15:51 to tie it at two each. Alaska would score with one of their own at 18:53 to take the lead. Anderson got his 2nd goal of the playoffs from Fraser and Swanson.

This goal proved to be pivotal as the Aces went 49-0 when leading after 2 all year. Langkow gave Alaska some insurance with his 8th of the playoffs and 2nd of the night, unassisted, at 14:29 of the 3rd to make it 4-2 Aces. Kalamazoo came within one with Daavettila's 6th of the playoffs from Fournier and Ftorek at 16:01.

The Aces answered back in less then a minute for the 2nd time on the night, Fraser got his 6th of postseason from Anderson at 16:29 to make it 5-3 Aces.

They won a game, after going 8-0 the previous two rounds and reeling off 10 straight playoff wins the K-Wings struck back in game 3 with a 4-1 win. Alaska was one short of tying the record for most consecutive wins in the playoffs. Kalamazoo opened the scoring just 4:44 into the game, Versteeg gets his 1st of the playoffs from Taylor and Daavettila. Alaska tied it at 1 at 18:53, Kissel got his 1st of the playoffs from Goldie and Miller. Kalamazoo would take the lead for good in the 2nd when Forunier scored his 5th of the playoffs from Thelen and Loyd at 11:51. Just 2:05 into the 3rd McGuirk would give Kalamazoo some insurance with his 3rd of the playoffs from Daavettila and Ftorek. Ftorek would ice it at 18:44 with the empty net goal from O'Neil.
