Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I'll love it if we beat them, love it!" Thus spake Kevin Keegan, then manager of Newcastle United, in response to another manager's comments about Newcastle during the 1995-1996 season. Which other manager had provoked him?

Answer: Alex Ferguson

Alex Ferguson was accused of playing 'mind games' when he suggested in an interview that teams such as Nottingham Forest would not make as much of an effort against Keegan's Newcastle as they would against Manchester United. In a Sky Sports interview after Newcastle had beaten Leeds United 1-0, Keegan stated that Ferguson had gone down in his estimation, and ended his interview with the above quote. Newcastle drew 1-1 with Forest. Keegan resigned as manager in January 1997 and was replaced by Kenny Dalglish, who had also replaced him as Liverpool's number 7 in their playing days.
2. Kevin Sheedy played for Everton from 1982 to 1992. In which year did he score the third and final goal for them in the European Cup Winner's Cup final?

Answer: 1985

Andy Gray and Trevor Steven scored the other two goals for Everton in the match against Rapid Vienna. It was a good year for Everton, as they had also won the 1984-1985 season league title under Howard Kendall. Sheedy scored a total of 67 goals for Everton, and left on a free to join Newcastle United.
3. Which country have Kevin Mirallas and Kevin de Bruyne both represented at an international level?

Answer: Belgium

Kevin de Bruyne, a native of Flanders, has played for Manchester City, Chelsea, VfL Wolfsburg and Genk. By contrast, Kevin Mirallas (or to give him his full name, Kevin Antonio Joel Gislain Mirallas y Castillo) is from Liège in Wallonia, and has played for Lille, Olympiacos - to whom he returned on loan in 2018 - and Everton. De Bruyne made his international debut for the Belgian national men's team in a friendly against Finland in 2010, while Mirallas made his in 2007. Both Kevins were in Belgium's World Cup squad in 2014.
4. Which London-based club did Austrian defender Kevin Wimmer join from FC Köln in 2015?

Answer: Tottenham Hotspur

The Austrian international joined Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £4.3 million, making his debut against the MLS Allstars, a team which included England internationals Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. He was one of four new Spurs signings who played that day, the others being Dele Ali (from MK Dons), Toby Alderweireld (from Southampton), and Kieran Trippier (from Burnley). Wimmer had two seasons at Tottenham, before moving to Stoke City at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.
5. This Kevin, noted for his chicken dance celebration played twice under Sam Allardyce; firstly at Bolton Wanderers, and secondly at West Ham United. Which Kevin am I talking about?

Answer: Kevin Nolan

"Your chicken is dead, your chicken is dead / Kevin Nolan, your chicken is dead," sang Sunderland fans in 2013, after they beat West Ham 3-0. Before playing for West Ham, Kevin Nolan signed for Bolton Wanderers in 1999 and spent 10 seasons there. During that time, under the leadership of Sam Allardyce, Bolton qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time, reaching the knockout stages in the 2005-2006 season. Nolan and Allardyce were reunited when Allardyce signed him for West Ham in 2011.
6. German footballer Kevin Trapp signed for Paris St Germain in 2015. In what position did he play?

Answer: Goalkeeper

Not to be confused with the American goalie of the same name, Kevin Trapp signed for PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2015 for 10 million, and was part of their 2015-2016 title winning squad. He replaced Salvatore Sirigu as first choice keeper for league games and Champions' League games, although Sirigu still played for PSG in domestic cup matches. Trapp was also capped 11 times for the German U21 squad, and made his debut with the senior team in 2015 against Gibraltar.
7. At which team's youth academy did Kevin Campbell begin his career, before making his debut for their first team against Everton in 1988?

Answer: Arsenal

A boyhood Arsenal supporter, Kevin Campbell joined Arsenal's academy in 1985 and won the FA Youth Cup with the Arsenal youth team. He partnered Ian Wright up front in the early '90s and was a prolific scorer, racking up 59 goals. He later had spells with Nottingham Forest, Trabzonspor and Everton, where he was top scorer in the 1999-2000 season. Football runs in the Campbell family; his son Tyrese played for Stoke City and the England U15 squad.
8. Along with Shay Given and Robbie Keane, Kevin Kilbane is one of the Republic of Ireland's most capped players of all time. How many caps did he have?

Answer: 110

Kevin Kilbane played for the Republic of Ireland national team from 1997 - when he made his first international debut against Iceland - to 2011. Although he himself is English, he qualified for the squad due to having Irish parents. He retired from football in 2012 and became a pundit on Irish channels such as 3e, Setanta Sports and RTÉ. Domestically, he played for Preston North End, Hull City and Wigan Athletic, amongst other teams.
9. Kevin Pressman enjoyed a long career as a goalkeeper with Sheffield Wednesday for over 20 years, before leaving in 2004. Which of these things did not happen during his playing career?

Answer: He was capped several times for Scotland

"Pressman against Jones - oh-ho! Get IN!" was the commentator's reaction when Kevin Pressman scored a penalty against Wolves in the 1994-1995 FA Cup, after saving although Sheffield Wednesday still went out. He also scored penalties against Watford and Grimsby Town. Wolves were also the team against whom he was sent off, and a Millwall fan invaded the pitch and told him he would not be leaving the ground alive after Wednesday's defeat of Millwall in the 1995-1006 League Cup.

As for the wrong answer, Pressman was capped for the England B team, though he never made it into the main squad.

After retiring in 2007, he later joined Millwall in 2012 as goalkeeping coach.
