Answer: Alan Davidson (AUS)

Alan Davidson scored 44 and 80 plus took 11 wickets in the tied Test between Australia and the West Indies in Brisbane in the 1960-61 series. Ian Botham became the first player to actually score a century and take 10 wickets in a Test match which was against India in 1980. W.G. Grace was the superstar of the late 19th century playing first-class cricket for 44 seasons (1865-1908). Garfield Sobers is considered by many as the greatest all-rounder in Test history with 8032 runs with a top score of 365 not out and taking 235 wickets.

Answer: Ian Meckiff

Ian Meckiff is better known for being called for throwing by Umpire Col Egar during the first Test against South Africa in the 1963-64 series. Benaud was the 8th wicket to fall being caught by the wicket-keeper Gerry Alexander. Grout was the 9th wicket to fall being run-out, and Kline was the not out batsman.

Maldon is 136kms NW of Melbourne and was caught up in the gold rush days of the mid 1800s. More commonly known as Bill Woodfull, he was born in Maldon on 22nd August 1897. Bill came under the notice of the Victorian selectors while playing district cricket in Melbourne.

Neil Harvey made 153 against India at the MCG in early 1948. This innings helped secure his place in the 1948 tour to England. His first Test century against England was 112 at Headingley in 1948, South Africa 178 at Newlands in 1949, and West Indies 133 at Sabina Park in 1955.

Nothling only ever played one Test match and that was when he replaced Bradman.

Ron Hammence did play three Tests for Australia and was also known for his splendid tenor voice which added to the good spirits of the Invincibles tour.

Keith Carmody was at one stage imprisoned in Stalag Luft 111 made famous in the movie "The Great Escape". He captained WA to it's first ever Sheffield Shield in 1948. He is also considered as the father of the "umberalla field". R.G. Williams was also a POW and he and Stan Sismey(wicketkeeper) both played in the Victory Series. Ken Meuleman took over as captain of WA from Carmody in 1956.

John William Henry Tyler Douglas was labeled "Johnny Won't Hit Today". Jack White did captain England against Australia in one Test in 1928-29. John Edrich also captained a Test against Australia in 1974-75 and John Emburey captained England in one Test against the West Indies in 1988.
