The origins of the Lonsdale belt date back to 1909, and is named after Lord Lonsdale and was incredibly expensive to make.

Answer: Freddie Welsh

Freddie Welsh's real name was actually Frederick Hall-Thomas, but took the name Welsh in honour of his nationality, and to prevent his mother from finding out he was boxing.

The original belt is kept at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, but is not on display for the public.
