Petr Cech is Chelsea's number one. He joined in 2004 and kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut against Manchester United. On 14th October 2006 following an incident with Stephen Hunt (playing for Reading), he fractured his skull and was out for three months. Jose Mourinho (the manager at the time) blamed Hunt stating that "the challenge was a disgrace, he is lucky to still be alive".

He subsequently wore a headguard in every game.

David Luiz was signed from Portugese side Benfica. He became an instant hero at Chelsea, scoring brilliant goals at Manchester United and Manchester City in his first season with the Blues. He was named FA Premier League Player of the Month for March 2011.

He scored against Manchester United again in the 2011-12 season and, in March 2012, he was named Man of the Match for his second-leg performance against Napoli in the Champions League. Bryan Ruiz is a Costa Rican who wa splaying for Fulham in the 2011-12 season, and Neymar and Ronaldinho are both Brazilian strikers (both of them were playing in the Brazilian first division in 2011-12, Neymar for Santos and Ronaldinho for Flamengo).

The league title in 2004-05 was the second in the history of Chelsea FC (their first was in 1951-52).
