Petr Cech is Chelsea's number one. He joined in 2004 and kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut against Manchester United. On 14th October 2006 following an incident with Stephen Hunt (playing for Reading), he fractured his skull and was out for three months. Jose Mourinho (the manager at the time) blamed Hunt stating that "the challenge was a disgrace, he is lucky to still be alive".

He subsequently wore a headguard in every game.

David Luiz was signed from Portugese side Benfica. He became an instant hero at Chelsea, scoring brilliant goals at Manchester United and Manchester City in his first season with the Blues. He was named FA Premier League Player of the Month for March 2011.

He scored against Manchester United again in the 2011-12 season and, in March 2012, he was named Man of the Match for his second-leg performance against Napoli in the Champions League. Bryan Ruiz is a Costa Rican who wa splaying for Fulham in the 2011-12 season, and Neymar and Ronaldinho are both Brazilian strikers (both of them were playing in the Brazilian first division in 2011-12, Neymar for Santos and Ronaldinho for Flamengo).

Frank Lampard has been a prolific player for both club and country. Signed from West Ham United at the start of the 2001-02 season, he made an instant impact making 164 consecutive appearances in the Premier League. Internationally, he made his debut for England in Ocotber 1999will most probably almost be remembered for the disallowed goal against Germany in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which would tied the game at 2-2 (Germany went on to win 4-1 and progressed to the quarter-finals).

Signed in January 2011 from Liverpool, Fernando Torres ended his run of 903 minutes without a goal on 23rd April at home against West Ham United. His goalscoring prowess "returned" in the 2011-12 season scoring Premier League goals against Swansea City and Manchester United (although these two matches also saw him red carded and missing an open net) and Aston Villa.

He scored a brace in the FA Cup against Leicester City and a brace against Genk in the Champions League.

Known for his flair and playmaking abilities, this Spanish international was a welcome addition to the Chelsea squad. He has since recorded many assists and goals, including an unstoppable volley at home against Manchester United in February 2012, a game which ended 3-3.

Didier Drogba was signed from Marseilles in July 2004. He is famous for his physical strength and his ability in the air. Not only has Drogba been an ambassador on the pitch but also off it, helping peace in his home country. He won the Premierl League Golden Boot award in 2006-07 when he finished the season with 20 goals; and own this award again in 2009-10 when he scored 29 goals.

In March 2012 he became the first African player to score 100 goals in the Premier League (in the 1-0 win at home to Stoke City).

Chelsea signed Raul Meireles from Liverpool -- with Michael Essien out with a knee injury signing a midfielder for the 2011-12 season was crucial. He scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea in a 2-1 win at home vs. Manchester City in December 2012 (to end Manchester City's undefeated start to the season).

He also scored goals against Genk in the Champions League and Birmingham City and Leicester City in the FA Cup.

Romelu Lukaku made an impact at Anderlecht at a very young age and Chelsea were immediately interested and signed him in August 2011 at the start of the seaosn. Lukaku had reported he had been interested in moving to Chelsea for a while after taking a field trip to Stamford Bridge and stating he would cry if he got the chance to player there.

Daniel Sturridge is a striker, although in 2011-12 he had played more out wide. He is extremely quick and is very skillful. He also likes to cut inside when on the wing and curl in shots from all angles. He made his international debut for England in November 2011.
Juan Mata (Spanish international) was signed form Valencia in August 2011, Florent Malouda (French internatinal) was signed from Lyon in July 2007 and Salomon Kalou (Ivory Coast international) was signed from Feyenoord in May 2006.

John Terry debuted for Chelsea in October 1998 and played his first game for England in June 2003. He is a brilliant player leading Chelsea to three Premier League titles (2004-05, 2005-06, 2009-2010, three FA Cups (2007, 2009, 2010) and two Carling Cups (2005 and 2007). The league title in 2004-05 was the second in the history of Chelsea FC (their first was in 1951-52). In 2010, Chelsea achieved their first-ever League and Cup double; they became the seventh team to achieve this feat since the formation of the Football League in 1888:
