Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jaret Wright
Answer: Pitcher
Spending 11 seasons in the big leagues, Jaret Wright played for the Indians for his first six seasons, and was an integral part of the Tribe's World Series run in his rookie season in 1997, despite starting only 16 games during the regular season. He is well known for his performance in the post season, where his two wins in the ALDS and ALCS were instrumental in getting Cleveland to the World Series. Unfortunately he lost his only appearance in the World Series and never made it back.
He finished his Cleveland career with a 5.50 earned run average, and a win-loss record of 35-32 in 98 games pitched.
2. Einar Diaz
Answer: Catcher
Diaz played 11 seasons in the majors, seven of those in Cleveland. Diaz played as the Indians backup catcher for Sandy Alomar, Jr. from 1996 to 2000. In his time in Cleveland, Diaz hit .259 with 15 home runs and 139 RBI.
3. Mike Hargrove
Answer: First Base
Before managing the Indians, Hargrove spent the majority of his 12 year career (1974-1985) in Cleveland. In his 7 years playing in a Tribe uniform (1979-1985), Hargrove hit .292, with 33 home runs and 383 RBI. He wasn't known for his batting, but for being the "Human Rain Delay." Hargrove would go through the same lengthy routine after every single pitch. Hargrove did play other positions, but by far his most frequently played position was first base.
4. Carlos Baerga
Answer: Second Base
Baerga was a key piece of the Indians' success in the mid 1990s, playing from 1990 to 1996. He also played for the Tribe during the 1999 season, for a total of eight seasons in Cleveland. He hit .299 with 104 home runs and 565 RBI.
5. Travis Fryman
Answer: Third Base
In his 13 seasons (1990-2002) in the major leagues, Fryman played eight seasons in Detroit with the Tigers (1990-1997), and five in Cleveland with the Indians. The majority of his defensive appearances were at the hot corner. Fryman hit just .275 in his time in an Indians uniform, hitting 74 home runs and 343 RBI. He was the Gold Glove winner in the American League in 2000 at third base.
6. Omar Vizquel
Answer: Shortstop
One of the best defensive shortstops the game of baseball has ever seen, Omar Vizquel played 11 (1994-2004) of his incredible 24 seasons (1989-2012) with the Cleveland Indians. He wasn't known for his offense, hitting .283 with just 60 home runs in his time in Cleveland.
He drove in 584 RBI, and stole 279 bases. His most impressive achievement however, was his eight Gold Glove awards with the Indians. He finished his career with an astonishing 11 Gold Gloves at shortstop.
7. Albert Belle
Answer: Left Field

He hit .300 with 87 home runs and 518 RBI. Lofton is most remembered for his speed, not just in center field, but also on the bases. With the Indians, Lofton stole 452 bases, finishing his career with an impressive 662.
9. Manny Ramírez
Answer: Right Field
Manny Ramírez played in 19 seasons (1993-2011) in the majors, and split most of his time between Cleveland and Boston. Ramírez played exclusively in right field defensively during his days with the Indians, not playing in left field until he joined the Red Sox. Manny hit .313 in Cleveland, with 236 home runs and 804 RBI.
10. Travis Hafner
Answer: Designated Hitter
Hafner played all but two seasons in his 12 year career (2002-2013) with the Tribe. During his ten years with Cleveland, he hit .278 with 200 home runs, and 688 RBI.
