In the only season that "Sudden Sam" did not lead the league in K's in that six-year span, he finished second. His career best was 325 strikeouts during the 1965 season.

Score has refused to blame this injury for prematurely ending his big league career. Score went on to serve as an Indians broadcaster for more than 30 years.
