Answer: Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James won the Rookie of the Year in the season, and surpassed everyone's expectations after being the number one overall draft pick. LeBron averaged 20.9 points per game along with 5.5 rebounds. Not afraid to shoot the three, LeBron made 63 in the season. He also averaged less than two personal fouls per game.
2. Which San Antonio Spur won his only season MVP Award in 1994-95?

Answer: David Robinson

Robinson played for the Spurs from 1990-2003. His MVP season saw him play in all but one game. David averaged 27.6 points per game along with 10.8 rebounds. In 1993-94, Robinson averaged 29.8, but lost the MVP to Hakeem Olajuwon of the Rockets.
3. Which Maverick was the 2003-04 Sixth Man of the Year Award winner?

Answer: Antawn Jamison

After spending five seasons with Golden State, Jamison packed his bags for the 2003-04 season with the Dallas Mavericks. Antawn averaged 29 minutes per game and yet averaged 14.8 points per game along with six rebounds. The 27 year old was in his sixth NBA season.

Answer: Zach Randolph

The others listed won the award also, but at least three years before Zach pulled it off. In his third season with the Trail Blazers, Randolph more than doubled his minutes played per game, therefore almost all his stats more than doubled also. He averaged 20.1 points per game in the season.
5. Which Nugget and Hawk was the first player in NBA history to win three Defensive Player of the Year Awards?

Answer: Dikembe Mutombo

All the other defensive greats listed won two awards, and all in consecutive seasons. Mutombo won his first in 1995 with the Denver Nuggets. His second and third DPYA came in 1997 and 1998 with the Atlanta Hawks. In each of those three seasons, Dikembe averaged close to 37 minutes per game while in the 13 point per game window.

Answer: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Both Jordan of the Bulls and Russell of the Celtics both won five MVPs. Chamberlain with Philadelphia won four. Kareem won three with the Milwaukee Bucks and three with the Lakers. Abdul-Jabbar was also the 1970 Rookie of the Year. After 20 seasons, retiring in 1989, Kareem was number one in career points with 38,387.

He was the second NBA player in history to reach the 30,000 point barrier.
7. Which player won the inaugural Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1983?

Answer: Bobby Jones

In 1983, Jones was in his sixth season in the NBA after playing four with the ABA. He won the award with the Philadelphia 76ers for averaging almost 24 minutes per game, nine points, and 4.6 rebounds. Kevin McHale of the Celtics was the first player to win the award twice, and did it in 1984 and 1985 with the Celtics.

After the 1970-71 season, a little confusion entered the Board of the NBA as what to do with a tie. They stuck by their votes and awarded the ROY to Geoff Petrie of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Dave Cowens of the Boston Celtics. There were co-winners for the 1994-95 season also, watching Grant Hill and Jason Kidd win the award.
9. Who was the first player to win a season MVP in both the ABA and the NBA?

Answer: Julius Erving

All these greats played in both the American Basketball and the National Basketball Association. 'Dr. J' won the MVP in the ABA three consecutives seasons from 1974-1976 with the New Jersey Nets. In 1977, Erving jumped over to the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA, then won the MVP in the 1980-81 season. Erving spent five seasons in the ABA, 11 with the NBA, and retired in 1987.

He was a 1993 Hall of Fame inductee.
10. The great Michael Jordan won the 1995-96 season MVP Award. Who topped him for the award in 1996-97 by only 29 total points?

Answer: Karl Malone

With the Utah Jazz, Malone had only 11 more first place votes than Jordan in the voting. This was Malone's first of two MVP Awards that he would receive, and stopped Michael from winning his fifth. The voting was 986-957.
