Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many hitters are eligible to hit in the front row, while running a 5-1 offensive set-up?

Answer: 3

The setter comes up from the back, and she had 5 eligible hitters (all of the other players on the court), but 3 are in the front, outside hitter, middle hitter, offside hitter, and then there are 2 back line hitters.
2. Which of these will NOT cause you to get a yellow or red card while playing the game?

Answer: hitting the net 3 or more times

You can't hit the net, but the penalty is not a card. Yellow cards are warnings, and if you get a red card, you are out.
3. You have to be tall to play volleyball.

Answer: False

Some coaches like tall players, because they can naturally jump higher.
4. How many points did you have to have to win a game in 2003?

Answer: 25

It used to be 15, but when it changed to rally scoring, it went up to 25. You still have to win by 2 though.
5. How many classifications of high schools participate in competitive volleyball in Georgia?

Answer: 4

They are: A/AA, AAA, AAAA, and AAAAA. In all other sports, A and AA classifications are separated, but since there are so few A and AA schools that play, they are grouped together.
6. Which is a rule about substitutions?

Answer: they must be done in front of the 10-foot-line

7. What is another name for a forearm pass?

Answer: bump

Another name is also a dig, but it is only classified as a dig if the ball was driven at you from the other team.
8. What is another name for an overhead pass?

Answer: set

The set is probably the most important hit. It sets up a kill, and all those aggressive hits wouldn't happen if there wasn't a setter.
9. Which of these would hit a quick set?

Answer: Middle Hitter

10. What is the highest level of college volleyball, a player can play after graduation?

Answer: Division 1

NAIA is the lowest level.
