Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many points is a takedown worth?

Answer: 2

Takedowns are when the wrestler in control brings the other wrestler down on to the mat.
2. Escapes are worth 4 points.

Answer: false

An escape is when the wrestler who is not in control, gets free from the other's grip, and then the wrestlers go back into the neutral position.
3. The home and visiting teams must wear different colors.

Answer: False

Although different teams may have different colored uniforms, this may not always be the case. Wrestlers are actually distinguished by colored anklets (usually red and green). The referee awards points by raising a wristband that corresponds to the wrestler's color.
4. How many points are pins worth?

Answer: 6

A pin is a move with the most points. Both shoulders of the oppenent must be touching the mat. The referee will then count to 5.
5. There is a move called a bulldozer?

Answer: true

The bulldozer is when the wrestler in control is trying to flip the other from his stomach to his back.
6. What is the sign the referee gives for a reversal?

Answer: Moves both hands in a circular motion

This is the sign because the hands reverse positions.
7. What are the people called that tell the referee when time is up?

Answer: Referee beaters

They hit the referee, usually with a towel, to tell the referee that the period is over.
8. How many near falls are there, and what are the point values?

Answer: 3 near falls - 2,3,4

There are 3 near falls. They are the 2 pt, 3pt, and the 4pt. The 2pt and 3pt are the most common, and the 4pt is very unlikely to happen, but once in a while it does.
9. How many weight classes are there?

Answer: 14

The 14 weight classes are 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, and 285.
