That game was the last of 3 games Lorne Anderson played in the NHL, and it was also the last night of the 1952-53 season. Bill Mosienko scored 3 times midway throught the 3rd period as Chicago rallied to beat the Rangers 7-6.

Answer: Johnny Mowers

Johnny Mowers won the Vezina Trophy for the NHL best goalie that year and led the Detroit Red Wings to the Stanley Cup in 1942-43, but he would leave for military duty following the season during World War II. He played in England a year after the war, then returned to Detroit for 7 games going 0-6-1. Mowers would go to the minors for a short stint before calling it a career.
