1. Which of these players scored 72 total touchdowns over the first five years of his NFL career?

Answer: Shaun Alexander

Alexander scored an incredible 72 TDs for the Seattle Seahawks from 2000-04. Marcus Allen wasn't too far behind with 64 TDs in his first five years. Lance Alworth had 56, and Ottis Anderson had 37.
2. Though the NFL didn't count quarterback sacks as an official statistic until 1981, statisticians had been keeping track of them for some time. Which of these players "unofficially" racked up 23 sacks in 1978?

Answer: Al "Bubba" Baker

Amazingly, 1978 was Baker's rookie season. Playing for the Detroit Lions, his performance easily earned him NFC Rookie of the Year honors. Baker later went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and Minnesota Vikings before retiring after the 1990 season. If it had counted as an NFL statistic at the time, 23 sacks would have beeen a NFL record.
3. What college did legendary wide receiver Cris Carter attend?

Answer: Ohio State

Carter was a fourth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1987, and after moving on to the Minnesota Vikings in 1990, he forged a reputation as one of the league's best all-time receivers. His incredible hands made impossible catches look routine. When his career ended, he was second on the all-time receptions list with 1,101.
4. Which of the players listed was the only one not in the NFL Hall of Fame at the end of the 20th century?

Answer: Bobby Douglass

Douglass' claim to fame was setting the NFL record for rushing yards in a single season by a quarterback, with 968 yards for the Chicago Bears in 1972. His passing statistics, however, brought him nowhere near Canton. Tony Dorsett was enshrined in 1994, Dierdorf in 1996, and Dickerson in 1999.

Jim Everett quarterbacked the Rams from 1986-1993 before moving on to the New Orleans Saints, and then a brief stint with the San Diego Chargers. Henry Ellard was an excellent wide receiver who played for the Rams from 1983-1993 before joining the Redskins from 1994-1998, and played very briefly for the New England Patriots. Carl Ekern spent his entire career (1976-1988) as a linebacker for the Rams.
6. Which of these former NFL players attended the University of Nebraska?

Answer: Irving Fryar

Fryar was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft of 1984. Playing with the Patriots, Dolphins, Eagles, and Redskins, he was sixth on the NFL's all-time pass receptions list at the time of his retirement. Dan Fouts and Russ Francis were teammates at the University of Oregon, and Chuck Foreman was a star at Miami(Fla.).
7. Which of these former NFL players was a nephew of head coach Dick Vermeil, and played under him with the Philadelphia Eagles?

Answer: Louie Giammona

Giammona was a back up running back known better for his reckless special teams play. He played for uncle Dick from 1978-1982.
8. Which of these teams drafted Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard in 1992?

Answer: Washington Redskins

In a case of the rich getting richer, Howard became the first Heisman Trophy winner to be drafted by the defending Super Bowl champions. Howard did eventually play for all the teams listed, but there was no Jacksonville Jaguars in 1992, and the Raiders were in Los Angeles. He scored a touchdown on a punt return the first time he touched the ball in the NFL, and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXI after his only season with the Packers.
9. Which of these former NFL players was not a wide receiver?

Answer: Leroy Irvin

Leroy Irvin was a defensive back/punt returner for the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions.
10. Which college did Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson attend?

Answer: Oregon State

Johnson had established himself as one of the league's top receivers. It looked as though he was a steal for the Bengals as they grabbed the former Beaver in the second round of the 2001 draft.
