Answer: 24

Mays won the Rookie of the Year Award with the New York Giants in 1951. He would go on to win the National League MVP in 1954, then again in 1965. He spent his final season with the Mets, still wearing the number 24. Mays retired with 660 career home runs, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979.
2. The Mets and Yankees both retired the number 8 in honor of which Hall of Fame player?

Answer: Yogi Berra

The number 8 is retired in the Yankee organization in honor of two players, Bill Dickey and Yogi Berra. Yogi's final playing season was with the Mets in 1965. In the 1950s, Berra was in the top four of the MVP Award voting an amazing seven times.
3. Which of the following had a jersey retired by three different teams?

Answer: Nolan Ryan

The strikeout king of baseball, Ryan struck out a career 5714 batters over 27 seasons. The Angels retired his number 30, then the Astros and Rangers retired number 34 in honor of him.
4. Hall of Fame pitcher Warren Spahn won 363 career games. Which of these numbers was on his back?

Answer: 21

Spahn began his Major League career in 1942 with the Boston Braves with the number 16. After years of military service, Warren came back to the Braves in 1946 with the number 21. He would wear this number for his remaining 20 seasons. Spahn went 363-245 in his career, while being a 20-game winner 13 times.

He finished out his career as a San Francisco Giant in 1965. Warren was an easy inductee into the Hall of Fame in 1973.
5. The Bambino, Babe Ruth, did not wear a number with the Boston Red Sox, but wore the number 3 with the Yankees for 15 seasons. He played his final season with the Boston Braves wearing which number?

Answer: 3

After six seasons with the Red Sox, Ruth was sold to the Yankees in 1919 in a well-documented screw-up by Boston owner Harry Frazee. After 15 seasons with the number 3 on his back in the pinstripes, the Babe played his final season with the Boston Braves of the National League wearing the same number 3.
6. When Rickey Henderson who was the biggest thief in baseball history joined the Oakland Athletics in 1979, he would never have thought that he would make 13 team changes throughout his career. Answer: 24

It really didn't matter to the fans which number Rickey wore, because it was all just a blur when he took to the basepaths. Henderson was by far the biggest bandit in baseball, not only setting a season record of stealing 130 bases for the Athletics in 1982, but by taking 1406 bases in his career.

Answer: 18

9. The Montreal Expos franchise (now the Washington Nationals) retired the number 10 in 1993 honor of which 'fruity player'?

Answer: Rusty Staub

Feller wore the number 9 as a rookie with the Indians in 1956. Bobo Newsom wore the number 8 with the Giants in 1948, and Bob Lemon wore the number 6 for one season.
