From the American League East, the Yankees and Red Sox (wild card) reached it. The Twins are from the Central and the Athletics from the West. The Yankees were one of only two teams to win 100 games or more.
2. Which teams were representing the National League?

Answer: Braves, Marlins, Cubs, Giants

The Braves and the Marlins (wild card) came out of the East, while the Cubs are in the Central, and the Giants from the West. The Braves were the only team other than the Yankees to win 100 games or more. Both had a 101-61 record in 2003.

The Cubs defeated the Braves three games to two, and the Red Sox defeated the Athletics three games to two.

Josh Beckett was the MVP for throwing a 9 inning shutout in game six. The Marlins were the first team to win the Series at Yankee Stadium as a visitor since 1981, when the Los Angeles Dodgers won game six.
