Answer: Alex Rodriguez

In an amazing 14 seasons, A-rod reached the 500-home run mark, passing Eddie Murray, Jim Thome, Mel Ott, Eddie Mathews, Ernie Banks, and Frank Thomas in the season. Alex finished 2007 just three home runs behind the great Ted Williams of the Red Sox and Willie McCovey of the Giants, who both hit 521.

Answer: Barry Bonds

Bonds hit his 756th career home run on August 7th, and left the 2007 season with 762. Barry spent his first seven seasons with the Pirates, then his next 15 as a Giant in San Francisco.

Reggie Jackson still sat on top of the heap with 2597 career strikeouts. Reggie led the league in strikeouts, five times in his 21-season career.

Answer: Mike Timlin

The others had never pitched for the Red Sox. Timlin became the 10th pitcher in history to appear in 1000 games. In 2007, he moved into that spot by passing Lindy McDaniel, Rich Gossage, Mike Jackson, and Roberto Hernandez. Mike was 11 games short of the great Lee Smith and Jose Mesa.
