Sylvain Distin wore the armband for the whole of the 2005-06 season. This was passed on to Richard Dunne for the start of 2006.

2. Who scored the opening goal of the 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the City of Manchester Stadium?

Answer: Trevor Sinclair

Trevor "Tricky" Sinclair opened the scoring on derby day followed by goals by Vassell and Robbie Fowler. Ruud Van Nisterlooy scored for the visitors.

Samaras came from Dutch club Heerenveen after signing for them as a teenager. 21-year old Samaras was the front line of the City Attack. Samaras' mentor at heerenveen was no other than former United player, Ruud Van Nisterlrooy.
