"and Eddie Jordan is in fifth place" ... presumably he meant Eddie Irvine?! Walker made another mistake during the same race saying "Jean Todt is out, my goodness", he obviously meant Jean Alesi but Alesi did drive for the team that Jean Todt managed so ... Only a mix-up that Murray could ever make!

"This has been a great season for Nelson Piquet, as he is now known". His birth name was Nelson Maior [ Nelson Piquet Souto Maior ].

In the build-up to the 1996 Italian GP, Murray was looking forward to the challenge that the drivers would have to face with the tyres on the chicanes. He was saying what a great season it had been, mentioning the drenched race at Monaco. So Mr Walker being Mr Walker said "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Italian Grand Prix at Monaco"! Perhaps he meant Monza?!

Walker and Hunt had two very different commentating styles as shown in this conversation.
Murray: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool."
James: "Well, that should put them out then."
The swimming pool is the name of a corner on the Monte Carlo street circuit because there is a swimming pool outside of the driving bounds of that corner! As they say, sarcasm is the highest form of wit!

"It's raining heavily and the track is getting wet". The reason I said it was silly is because frankly, if it's raining the track wouldn't stay dry! As the years have passed, we've learnt to expect comments like this from Murray!

"And the Williams pit are getting ready for Hill, the tyre coolers are coming off". Need I comment on this?! The tyre blankets are to warm the tyres, not to cool them down!

"And Ayrton Senna wins the 1999 Monaco Grand Prix". I suppose many of you would've got this right considering you are doing a quiz on Murray Walker! This was actually in 1990, many people would've been shocked if Senna had won in 1999! At this point, Murray invents time travel!

The Monaco GP has 78 laps. "We're now on the 73rd lap and the next one will be the 74th". Why thank you Murray, we never would have known!

"There are seven winners of the Monaco Grand Prix on the grid today and four of them are Michael Schumacher". You can see where Murray wanted to go with this but it just came out wrong! Before the 2001 Monaco GP, Schumi had won the race four times. On the grid, previous winners were Olivier Panis (1996), David Coulthard (2000), Mika Hakkinen (1998) and of course Michael Schumacher (1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999).

When they did a race review at the end of the European GP, Murray watched a replay, on board with Schumi, of him driving into Jacques Villeneuve at the Dry Sack Curve and retiring. Schumi failed to finish the race with his now (then) broken car. So Murray said: "And that just shows you how important the car is in Formula One racing", on account that Schumi lost the world championship because his car was broken!

Then again Murray did say during the 95 Spanish GP that Eddie Jordan was in fifth! I just want to mention a Martin Brundle quote at the 2001 US GP, Murray's last race commentating before retirement: "I'm sure I speak for many millions of people - tens of millions all around the world - when I say to you, thank you so much for what you've done for Formula 1 over the decades." Quite a sad moment for MW fanatics around the world.
