NBA Champions Trivia Quiz

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time remembering things that happened last week, let alone more than a decade ago. That's why this quiz is the 10 NBA champions from 1995 to 2004. Hint: the NBA likes to recycle its winners.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What team won the 1994-95 title?

Answer: Houston Rockets

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon was the finals MVP. The Rockets had won the year before, also.
2. What team won the 1995-96 title?

Answer: Chicago Bulls

Michael returned from his first retirement and decided that the NBA trophy looked better in the Windy City than in Texas, where it had resided for the previous two seasons. This was his fourth ring.
3. What team won the 1996-97 title?

Answer: Chicago Bulls

During the 90's it was pretty much a contest to see who would lose to the Bulls. This year's lucky winner was the Utah Jazz. Jordan and company made short work of Stockton and Malone.
4. What team won the 1997-98 title?

Answer: Chicago Bulls

The Jazz fell to the Bulls once again (in a repeat of the 1996-97 finals), yet this would be the last year of the Chicago dynasty.
5. What team won the 1998-99 title?

Answer: San Antonio Spurs

With the Bulls dynasty finally over, the nature of the game dramatically changed. For the next five years, the game would be dominated by the big men of the Western Conference. Two of these pivotal big men were David Robinson and Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs. Duncan was named the Finals MVP.
6. What team won the 1999-2000 title?

Answer: L.A. Lakers

The Lakers beat the Pacers in six games. This was Indiana's first trip to the Finals. Indiana was the second former ABA team to get there (the Spurs were the first).
7. What team won the 2000-01 title?

Answer: L.A. Lakers

Allen Iverson's Sixers were beaten in 5 games. Shaq won his second Finals MVP award.
8. What team won the 2001-02 title?

Answer: L.A. Lakers

The large size and physical play of the Western Conference prevailed over the East, as the Lakers swept the Nets. However, the nets would return to the finals next year and the Lakers would not.
9. What team won the 2002-03 title?

Answer: San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs beat the Nets in six games, marking their second straight year of Runner-up status. David Robinson retired after this season with two World Titles to his name.
10. What team won the 2003-04 title?

Answer: Detroit Pistons

The East finally won a title. The trophy hadn't been on that side of the Mississippi since Jordan hung up his sneakers for the second time after the Bulls' 1997-98 title. Chauncey Billups was the Finals MVP, being only the fifth different recipient since '91 (Jordan, Olajuwon, Duncan, Shaq).
