NHL Arenas: 2006-07 Trivia Quiz

Answer: Verizon Center

Although the MCI Center was the official home of the Capitals from 1997-2006, it was 2007 that found them playing at the Verizon Center. The Staples Center was the arena of the Los Angeles Kings, and the HP Pavillion was the home of the San Jose Sharks.

Answer: Honda Center

Although the Ducks were no longer "mighty" in 2006-07, they had established a name for themselves playing in their new home; the Honda Center. The Arrowhead Pond Of Anaheim used to be the home of the Ducks from 1993-2006. TD Banknorth Garden is the home of the Boston Bruins and the Joe Louis Arena is the home of the Detroit Red Wings.

Answer: Scottrade Center

Many still think that the Savvis Center was still the home of the infamous Blues, but the Savvis Center (2000-2006) was bought out by the company called Scottrade; and thus the name. The Mellon Arena was the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, while the RBC Center was the home of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Answer: Pengrowth Saddledome

The Pengrowth Saddledome had been in operation for the Flames since 1983 and was still the home for Calgary. Rexall Place was the home of the rival Edmonton Oilers, Xcel Energy Center belonged to the Minnesota Wild, and GM Place was the Vancouver Canucks Arena.

Answer: Atlanta Thrashers

The Phillips Arena had been home to the Atlanta Thrashers since 1999. The Florida Panthers played at The BankAtlantic Center, the Islanders played in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the Stars called the American Airlines Center home.

Answer: HP Pavillion

HP Pavillion was indeed the home of the San Jose Sharks, and had been since 1993. The Rising Tide Arena and the Nike Arena did not exist as NHL arenas, and the Staples Center was home to the Los Angeles Kings.

Answer: Prudential Center

Prudential Center was being established in Newark, a new look for the Devils who used to call the Continental Airlines Arena home. The Dallas Stars played at the American Airlines Center while the Newark Arena did not exist as an NHL arena in at the end of the season.

Answer: Air Canada Centre

The Air Canada Centre was the newest arena in the NHL, being built in 1999 and was still in tact in 2006-07. Maple Leaf Gardens was the old arena for our beloved Maple Leafs but played its last game in 1999, while the Canadian Air Centre did not exist as NHL arena and the Continental Airlines Arena was home to the New Jersey Devils.

Answer: HSBC Arena

The HSBC Arena was opened in 1996 and was still being played in by the Sabres. Game 6 of the Eastern Conference was played at the HSBC Arena and was won by the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in overtime against the future Stanley Cup Champions, Carolina Hurricanes.

Answer: Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers called the Rexall Place home and had called it home after a name change in 2003. The Vancouver Canucks played at General Motors Place, the Avalanche played at the Pepsi Center, and the Flames played at Pengrowth Saddledome.
