Koufax and Drysdale combined to terrorize the National League in 1965 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Koufax went 26-8, while Drysdale was 23-12. Their combined record of 49-20 was not approached for the remainder of the 20th century. The Dodgers went on to beat the Twins, 4 games to 3 in the World Series.

Niekro retired with 318 career wins, along with an amazing 5 Gold Gloves which is rare for a pitcher. His Gloves all came with the Atlanta Braves from 1978-1983. Tom Connolly umpired professional baseball from 1898-1931, in both the National and American League. Connolly was inducted into the Hall in 1953, along with fellow umpire Bill Klem. Officially, Connolly was selected ahead of Klem. Both Barlick and Hubbard are also inductees.

More amazing in itself, Koufax won these awards in 1963, 1965, and 1966, where there was only one Cy Young winner per season in the entire Major Leagues. In 1967 and subsequent, the Cy Young was awarded for each outstanding pitcher in each league. Koufax was a well known Dodger great, and retired in 1966 due to arthritis.
