Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was 'the munch'?

Answer: Mickey Skinner

For his ferocious tackling, Skinner is reputedly one of the best offensive tacklers ever to grace the game, and introduced us to such wonderful terms as 'bosh', 'crunch', plus countless ways to abuse back's - daisies, jessica's, fairies etc...
2. Who was 'the Pau Rocket'?

Answer: Phillipe Bernat-Salle

I think this is a delightful play on words Pau/Pow! It's like Batman on a rugby pitch. Pau obviously was Bernat-Salle's club side, and I assume that 'rocket' had to do with his explosive pace.
3. Who was 'bumface?'

Answer: Will Carling

I believe it was Mickey 'The Munch' Skinner, who coined the term due to Carling's characteristic chin dimple.
4. The French nick-named who 'Le-Pit-bull'?

Answer: Brian Moore

Likened to a rabid pit-bull terrier, would probably be Brian Moore's idea of a compliment.
5. Who was 'the voice of rugby'?

Answer: Bill McLaren

He was the premiere comentator on the sport for his whole career.
6. What is John Eales' nick-name?

Answer: Nobody

Because nobody's perfect! A second row forward who can win line-out ball, solidify the scrum, hit every ruck/maul on the field with 100% commitment, and then kick the winning penalty goal in the tri-nations to boot (boom boom), can't be far off perfect if you ask me.
7. What was Will Greenwood's nick-name?

Answer: Shaggy

This is because of his resemblance to the cartoon character. Will is a second-generation England international.
8. What is Brendan Laney's nick-name?

Answer: The Chainsaw

It has to do with his ability to 'cut' through defences.
9. What is Jeremy Davidson's nick-name?

Answer: Buzz

Due to his resemblence to Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.
10. What was the nickname of Craig Chalmers?

Answer: Judith

In tribute to Judith Chalmers of course. Craig was a drop goal specialist, but couldn't out-kick Rob Andrew when England won the Grand Slam in 1995.
