Answer: Mississippi Valley State

Jerry Rice set many records in Div-II football for this team, which is one of the reasons he was drafted 15th overall in the draft.
3. Who had the tip of his pinky amputated so he wouldn't miss the 1985 playoffs?

Answer: Ronnie Lott

Lott required surgey that would make him miss the playoff, but because he cares more about winning than taking care of his body, he just amputated the tip of the finger and he was good to go.
4. How many Super Bowls did Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana play in together?

Answer: 4

Lott and Montana played together in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV. Neither were on the team for Super Bowl XXIX.
5. There is a town that got its name from a 49er legend.

Answer: True

The town of Ismay (pop. 22) in Montana changed its name to Joe in 1993. They named it after the former quarterback to raise funds for the town's needs. It reverted back to Ismay before the end of the decade.
6. What do Jeff Garcia and Steve Young have in common?

Answer: They both started playing pro football in a league other than the NFL

Jeff Garcia started his pro career in the Canadian Football league and Steve Young started in the USFL. Only Steve Young's grandfather founded a college(BYU), and only Garcia played for the Eagles and played under former head coach Dennis Ericsson.
7. How many times were the Niners NFC champs in the 20th century?

Answer: 5

The Niners won the Super Bowl in each of their 5 appearances in that century (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XIV, XXIX).
8. The Niners were the first team to win 5 Super Bowls.

Answer: True

The Niners won their 5th in 1994, the Cowboys did it one year later against the 4-time Super Bowl champs (back then) Pittsburgh Steelers.
9. Which of these Hall of Fame wideouts was drafted by the Niners, but never played for them?

Answer: Lance Alworth

Lance Alworth was drafted by the 49ers but he chose to go to San Diego instead. Jerry Rice played for the Niners, Mel Blount was a cornerback, and Don Hutson was not drafted by the Niners nor did he play for them.
10. Who was the first #1 overall draft pick that was chosen by the Niners?

Answer: Harry Babcock

Babcock was their first. He went #1 in 1953 ahead of Billy Vessels of the Colts. Y.A. Tittle was a first round pick in 1951, Washington in '69, and Druckenmiller in 97. None of them were 1st overall.
