1. The St.Louis Browns evolved into what team?

Answer: Baltimore Orioles

After the inauguration of the franchise in 1901 as the Milwaukee Brewers, the following year witnessed the St. Louis Browns until 1953, when they moved to Baltimore. The Browns won only 1 American League Pennant, in 1944 under manager Luke Sewell. They lost their only opportunity to the St.Louis Cardinals 4 games to 2.
2. Detroit Tiger great Mickey Lolich won a Cy Young Award?

Answer: False

Lolich was a powerhouse for the Tigers. Although he played a backseat to Denny McLain, Mickey came close in 1971 with tremendous numbers, and led in many pitching categories. Unfortunately, he finished runner-up to Vida Blue of the Athletics. In 1971, Lolich won 25 games. In 1968 after McLain's stellar year, Lolich was named the World Series MVP.
3. Who was the first player to smack 250 hits in a season?

Answer: George Sisler

Sisler had an amazing 257 hits in 1920 with the St.Louis Browns. He would hit another 200+ the next two seasons also. This slugger also pitched from time to time and appeared in 24 games in his 15 season career. In 1922, Hornsby knocked out 250 hits for the Cardinals, and the Giants saw Terry gain 254 hits in 1930. Gwynn's best was 220 hits in 1997 via the San Diego Padres.
4. Jacob Nelson ______ played 19 seasons in baseball, and was inducted into the Hall Fame in 1997?

Tough clue with 'Nellie Belle', but Jacob 'Nellie' Fox, known for his wad of chewing tobacco, began his career in 1947 with the Athletics of Philadelphia. After 3 seasons, he was traded to the White Sox and played 14 seasons in Chicago. He spent his final two seasons with Houston, and retired in 1965. 1959 saw him receive the American League MVP Award.
5. Which of the following teams was the first to win 100 games in a season?

Answer: New York Giants

The Giants won 105 games in 1905. John McGraw managed this great team at the Polo Grounds in New York. The Giants had great arms that season in Joe McGinnity, Christy Mathewson, and Red Ames. The Chicago Cubs won an amazing 116 games the following year which became the highest win total in the 20th century.
