Answer: Bill Dickey

Dickey was the Yankees' catcher from 1928-1946. He played with many Yankee greats including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and a ton of others. He retired with a .313 career average. Bill was an all-star 11 times, and was the AL MVP runner-up in 1938 to Boston's Jimmie Foxx.
2. This baseball Dick played for eight seasons in the American League in the 1960s. He later became manager of the New York Yankees, then Kansas City Royals. Which Dick is he?

Answer: Dick Howser

Howser played for the Athletics, Indians, and Yankees, mostly as a shortstop. After retiring from the infield in 1968, he took the reins of the Yankees in 1978, taking them to a World Series title.

Williams played a lot of his career as an outfielder, but also over 250 games as a third baseman. After retiring with Boston in 1964, Dick took the reins of the Red Sox in 1967, and took them to the World Series, but lost to the Cardinals. In 1972 and 1973, he took the Oakland Athletics to two World Series titles, before allowing owner Charles Finley to break up their dynasty due to salary disputes.

His final managerial season was 1988 with the Padres.
