Although the self proclaimed "Chocolate Thunder" was the first NBA player to shatter a glass backboard, it was a shattered glass he didn't see under the suds in his sink, that caused him to miss several games for the 76ers.
3. How did baseball catcher Mickey Tettleton come to suffer from an infected foot?

Answer: Tying his shoe laces too tight.

Tettleton fell victim to several unusual injuries with Oakland, missing almost half of 1985 with a pinched nerve in his back, and part of 1986 with the infected foot (and bruised heel). The Athletics were tired of his inability to stay healthy and released him on March 27, 1988. He went on to play with Baltimore, Detroit, and Texas.

It's one of the most common knee injuries in sports. It used to involve intrusive surgery, shelving an athlete for months, if not ending a career. Now it is often cured with arthroscopic surgery (depending on the severity), and healing can take weeks instead of months. In minor tears, some athletes have come back days later after being "scoped."

The NHL experimented with magnets but they weren't strong enough. Now the moorings are designed to have more give.
