Question 1 of 10
1. If you are a fan of warm fizzy drinks, then 'The Ice Man' may not be your favourite snooker player. For those of us who prefer a nice chilled drink, ice is essential. What spectacularly successful snooker player was nicknamed 'The Ice Man'? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. If Carl's Jr. were going to create a massive burger, then they would have to forget about naming it the 'Prince Carl' and set their sights at the much grander 'King Carl'. They may have to check if this is OK with a former track and field legend nicknamed 'King Carl' first though. Who is the man behind the nickname? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. A hamburger can be consumed as part of a well-balanced healthy diet, but fast food companies such as Burger King have come under fire for selling excessively fatty foods. Hang on, isn't 'Fat' the nickname of an NBA player? Who in cholesterol's name is 'Fat'? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. "Cleanliness is next to godliness" is the oft quoted phrase trumpeting the virtues of good hygiene and pleasant environs. For a fast food restaurant though, cleanliness is the essence of existence. The presence of rats is enough to get you closed down. Unless of course we are talking about 'The Rat', a famous Formula One racing driver. Who was known as 'The Rat'? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Do you have a kid who is feeling miserable? Well, all can be rectified with a McDonald's 'Happy Meal'. So go on, give in to the demands of your offspring and let them be as 'Happy' as a certain NASCAR driver. What NASCAR driver had the nickname 'Happy'? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. If you are feeling very hungry and a regular hamburger just doesn't cut it, then how about you try a double? A rather scandalous advertising manager for a fast food company could disingenuously lead with the claim that eating the 'Double X' burger could help you become a famous Major League Baseball player. Which MLB player was known as 'Double X'? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Are burgers made from beef not your thing? Then how about you pay a visit to Kentucky Fried Chicken and order a 'Birdman'. Well, you may have to check such ambitions because the 'Birdman' is a fictitious entity in the fast food world, but the name seems to be familiar in the skateboarding world. What famous, perhaps the most famous skateboarder was known informally as 'Birdman'? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Tired of the same old burger and is the mustard just not hot enough? Then how about you try, for an extra $0.75, the brand new 'Chiliboy' to give your meal a little kick. Speaking of kick, is there not a rugby union player who goes by the nickname of 'Chiliboy'? Who could it be? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Je vais aller au McDonald's, how about you join me and indulge in 'Le Grand Orange'! It is the brand new drink offered by the fast food company's stores in France (in my weird imagination at least). It is a fabulous concoction of juice from a citrus fruit and water. You got it, it's orange juice! Well, this may be fictitious but 'Le Grand Orange' is actually the nickname of a Major League Baseball (MLB) player. What is the name of this MLB player with the French connection? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Possibly the most famous entity in the fast food world is the 'Big Mac', an artery clogging, heart stopping burger that people the world over seem to love yet it hasn't really got much nutritional integrity! The 'Big Mac' has even managed to penetrate the defenses of Major League Baseball (MLB). What well known MLB player was known as 'Big Mac'? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you are a fan of warm fizzy drinks, then 'The Ice Man' may not be your favourite snooker player. For those of us who prefer a nice chilled drink, ice is essential. What spectacularly successful snooker player was nicknamed 'The Ice Man'?

Answer: Stephen Hendry

In the sports that don't get much attention and where there is both a smaller player base and a smaller fan base, there always tends to be a handful of players that stand out as being truly great. Scotland's Stephen 'The Ice Man' Hendry is one of snooker's all-time greats, dominating the sport throughout the entire 1990s. Relentlessly accurate and with the perfect temperament, Hendry would go on to win the World Snooker Championship seven times in the 1990s.

Answer: Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis was born in 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama, but later lived in Los Angeles, California. It was at the latter city that Carl Lewis made the incredible start to his Olympic career winning four gold medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Summer Games. The events in which he made it to the top of the podium were the 100m, 200m, and the long jump as well as being part of the successful US team in the 4x100m event.

Carl Lewis' fastest time in the 100m sprint was 9.86 seconds (1991), but I think that if he had frequented the burger bars a bit more often, he could easily have shaved another tenth of a second off that personal best!
3. A hamburger can be consumed as part of a well-balanced healthy diet, but fast food companies such as Burger King have come under fire for selling excessively fatty foods. Hang on, isn't 'Fat' the nickname of an NBA player? Who in cholesterol's name is 'Fat'?

Answer: Lafayette Lever

Born in the heart of Arkansas in 1960, Lafayette 'Fat' Lever would go on to become one of the best players in the NBA throughout the late 1980s at point guard. During this period, Lever who would make two All-Star teams, played for the Denver Nuggets which is somewhat appropriate. I assure you that the nuggets in question were not made of chicken.

Answer: Niki Lauda

Andreas Lauda, better known by the name Niki, was an Austrian Formula One pro who became World Champion three times. Lauda picked up the most unfortunate nickname 'The Rat', due in no small part to his buck teeth. In 1976, Lauda was involved in an accident during the German Grand Prix which resulted in serious burns suffered to the head.

He is well known for covering the burns with a cap.

Answer: Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick, a NASCAR driver from Bakersfield, California, had the nicknames 'Happy Harvick' and 'Big Bird', and he isn't shy about appearing in front of the camera. He has appeared on many American talk shows and has opened the doors of his home to the viewing public for the great bastion of dwelling invasion, 'MTV Cribs'.

Answer: Jimmie Foxx

Jimmie Foxx was born in 1907 in the US state of Maryland, but it would be fair to say he was equally at home on the baseball field, especially at first base. As well as being effective in this role, he became the second person in history to hit 500 home runs in a career, while the first being the most internationally recognised name in baseball, Babe Ruth. As well as the nickname 'Double X' which is a play on his last name, he was known as the 'The Beast'. Ogden Nash wrote about Jimmie Foxx in a poem entitled, "Lineup for Yesterday", published in "Sport Magazine" (January 1949):
"X is the first
Of two X's in Foxx
Who was right behind Ruth
With his powerful Soxx".

Answer: Tony Hawk

From San Diego, California, comes Tony Hawk, who for most people is the only recognisable name in the world of skateboarding. I must admit the only reason I had heard of any others is due to the hugely successful series of video games that is named for him.

'Birdman' hit the skateboarding jackpot when he successfully landed a 900, that is rotating yourself in the air a total of 900 degrees (2.5 spins) before landing. He was the first person to spin 900 degrees and land (without falling) which was seen by extreme sports fans at the 1999 X-Games.

Answer: Mahlatse Ralepelle

South African rugby union player Mahlatse Ralepelle was actually better known by his nickname - 'Chiliboy' Ralepelle. His major achievement was becoming the captain of the Springboks (South Africa's national rugby union team) which was noteworthy as he became the first black person to do so as well as becoming the youngest captain of the national team.

The match where he was in charge of the team on the field was against the World XV and it was played in Leicester, England.

Answer: Rusty Staub

Daniel Staub was an MLB player who started his career in Texas with the Houston Colt .45s and ended it in New York state with the Mets. He was better known as 'Rusty' and this was due to the right fielder's ginger hair and this was also the source of his second nickname, given to him by the Canadien français, 'Le Grand Orange'.

This fondness expressed by the Canadien français is apt given Staub's place of birth was New Orleans, Louisiana; a city known for its French Quarter and a state with the capital Baton Rouge or "Red Stick".

Answer: Mark McGwire

Mark 'Big Mac' McGwire playing for St. Louis Cardinals was one of the two players involved in the 1998 Major League Baseball home run record chase, the other player being Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs. They attempted to make more home runs in one season than the then record holder Roger Maris had managed in 1961. Both Sosa and McGwire managed to surpass Maris' record 61 home runs in one season, a feat that hadn't been seen in 37 years. Sosa managed to make 66 home runs in the 1998 season but McGwire went a step further, making an extraordinary 70 home runs.

In 2010, 'Big Mac' admitted to using performance enhancing steroids.
