In this match Vangipurappu Laxman hit 281, the highest ever Test score by an Indian batsman, and Harbhajan Singh bowled their first hat-trick. India won by 171 runs after being forced to follow on, for the 3rd time in test match history - England in 1981 (against Australia at Heaingley, Leeds) and Engalnd again 1894 (in Sydney), were the previous 2 follow-on victories.
