The club was formed as St. Lukes FC in 1877, but merged with a local Cricket Club two years later, and became known as Wolverhampton Wanderers.
2. Where did the club first play their home games?

Answer: Goldthorn Hill

Goldthorn Hill was used between 1887-89, then John Harper's Field for a further two years, Dudley Road between 1881-89, when they moved into Molineux.
3. Who was the club's first manager in their history?

Answer: George Worrall

Worrall was manager between 1877-85, followed by Addenbrooke (1885-1922), Jobey (1922-24), and Hoskins took the hot seat between 1924-26. Other managers over the years have included Tommy Docherty, Graham Taylor and Mark McGhee.
4. How many times during the 1950's did Wolves win England's top flight League title?

Answer: 3

Wolves won the League in seasons 1953-54, 1957-58 and 1958-59. 1953-54 saw Wolves win the title by 4 points, beating West Bromwich Albion into second place. In season 1957-58, Preston North End were runners-up, five points adrift, and 1958-59 Manchester United finished in second, 6 points behind Wolves.

Parkin played 501 League games for the club between 1967-82.

Wolves won the game 3-0, thanks to an own goal from Mick McGrath, and a brace from Norman Deeley. Wolves did beat the others listed in FA Cup finals. Everton were beaten 1-0 in 1893, Newcastle United lost 3-1 in 1908, and Leicester City were the losers in 1949, going down 3-1.

Answer: Dennis Westcott

Westcott scored 38 League goals in the 1946-47 Division One season. Steve Bull set a record for the most total goals in a season for the club, when he scored 52 in the 1987-88 season.
8. In which season were Wolves first elected into the Football League?

Answer: 1888-89

Wolves participated in the inaugural Football League season, and finished 3rd out of the 12 teams.
9. Who did Wolves beat in the 1937-38 season, to set a record for their biggest League victory?

Answer: Leicester City

The game took place on 15th April, 1938. Wolves went on to finish second in the old Division One that season, just a point behind Arsenal.
10. What was unique about Wolves in the 1980's?

Answer: They were relegated from the old Division One into Division Four in consecutive seasons

In season 1983-84, Wolves were relegated from Division One, but by the time season 1986-87 came around, they were playing Division Four football.
