1.12 "Whatever the Case May Be" Quiz

The episode opened up with a view of the island and then the camera panned on Kate, who was in a tree. She was picking off leaves on the tree and putting them in her sack and then she began to climb back down to the surface. When she got down from the tree, she got out her water bottle and began to drink from it.

As Kate began to walk through the jungle, she heard a noise and she got a little scared. As she continued to walk closer to the sound, she decided to get a rock and throw it in the direction of the sound. It turned out to be Sawyer who was making the sound and he remarked how she really hurt his knee.

As Kate and Sawyer continued to talk and walk through the jungle, they got to one part of it and noticed there was a waterfall. Sawyer started to go towards the waterfall and the lake it emptied into so Kate asked him what he was doing. Sawyer told her he needed to soak his knee in the water to help it heal.

While Sawyer soaked his knee in the lake, Kate joined him for a swim and they went swimming around the lake and went underwater. It was while they were underwater that they came upon two dead bodies. When they came up out of the water, they asked each other if they were okay and both of them said yes. Sawyer told Kate he wanted to go back down to see what the dead bodies had on them.

When Sawyer went down there, Kate followed him and they found a wallet and a briefcase.

As the opening credits rolled, the waves started to really crash on the beach and they got very close that they washed out the luggage to sea. Sayid commented on how this did not seem normal since the tide rose in such a short time. Jack was right next to Sayid and simply said there was a lot that was not normal on the island.

Jack instructed Sayid to get everyone to move their belongings inland and Sayid informed him they would be very cautious about entering into the jungle due to what happened to Claire. Jack then asked Sayid if he could take him to the French woman, Danielle Rousseau, who captured Sayid and asked him where Alex was in a previous episode. Jack reminded Sayid how Rousseau said there were others on the island but Sayid dismissed it, saying her mind was off.

Boone noticed how Shannon had helped bring belongings more inland and he commented to her on how she was actually being productive. Shannon asked him where he had been and Boone did not know what she meant. Shannon told him she noticed how he and John Locke had been leaving before sunrise and not coming back until after dark. Boone told Shannon that he and Locke were looking for Claire.

In a flashback about ten minutes into the episode, Kate was seen at a bank filling out an application for a loan. The person asked Kate to present her with some identification so Kate showed him some and then he asked her why she was in New Mexico. She said her work brought her there and commented that she was a photographer.

A couple of men then came into the bank shooting off guns and told the manager to give them some money.

Shannon was seen in one scene relaxing on the beach and Sayid was nearby and told her they were near the equator and how the temperature was likely much hotter than what she was used to back home. Sayid asked Shannon about translating some papers he took from Danielle Rousseau since Shannon knew a bit of French. Shannon asked Sayid if Boone put him up to it but he said no.

Michael was bringing some stuff closer inland and he noticed how Sawyer was attempting to pick a lock to a suitcase. He told Sawyer there was no way he would be able to pick it but Sawyer was adamant that he could do it. Hurley saw both of them and asked Michael what Sawyer was trying to do. That was when Michael told Hurley that Sawyer was trying to pick the lock to the suitcase.
