At Wayne Manor, Alfred and Harriet were listening to Chandell play on the piano when three women entered the premises. They held a weapon on all three and told them to hand over their jewelry. Then, the three women knocked out Alfred and Chandell after playing a musical instrument, which had special powers to put people to sleep.

However, Harriet was still conscious despite what the women did.

Harriet spoke with Chief O'Hara and Commissioner Gordon after they arrived at Wayne Manor upon hearing her 911 emergency call. Chandell was at Gotham City Police Headquarters where Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara were questioning him about who else could have known he would be playing music at Wayne Manor. Chandell mentioned that he did not know of anyone who he could name.

He then went for the Batphone to contact Batman and Robin but Commissioner Gordon informed him that was no use since Batman and Robin were on vacation.

Chandell was shocked to hear that Batman and Robin were out of town so he asked Commissioner Gordon who would protect him at his concert that evening at Gotham City Town Hall. Chief O'Hara then got on the phone and informed the police that they would all be surrounding Gotham City Town Hall that evening to protect Chandell. With that decision made, Commissioner Gordon then reassured Chandell that everything was under control.

Chandell went back to his hideout where he told his ladies that Batman and Robin were out of town, which pleased him. They then heard someone at the door and Chandell suspected that it was his twin brother, Harry. Chandell then went to the door to let Harry inside.
