The boys went to school in this episode where they were first seen goofing off in the back part of the classroom. Beavis had a lighter in his hand while Butt-head had a spray and they were attempting to get Beavis's head to light on fire. Butt-head, after a couple tries, finally accomplished this but the flame was short lived, thus not doing severe damage to Beavis.

Mr. Van Driessen appeared in the classroom and asked the students first to provide him their undivided attention. He stated that today they would be doing a lesson on writing haiku, which is a popular form of poetry. Butt-head did not understand him at first so Mr. Van Driessen explained to him the origins of haiku poetry.

Mr. Van Driessen asked Butt-head if he could give him a haiku poem after he explained that the first and third lines consisted of five syllables while the middle line contained seven syllables. Butt-head was unable to come up with one so he told Mr. Van Driessen how he needed to use the restroom. His classmates laughed while Mr. Van Driessen refused to let him go.

Butt-head finally was able to deliver a haiku poem for Mr. Van Driessen. In the poem, he mentioned that he killed a frog the other day and this portion went on the second line.
