The victim had given birth at the same hospital where the Talbot's son was born and on the same day. One of the babies died and the victim thought the Talbot's son was actually her child, which is what caused her to secretly swab his mouth for a DNA test.

The DNA test confirmed it was her son and that the Talbot's child had died very early in his life. Dr. Talbot confessed to killing the victim after he realized she wanted her baby back.
