Midway through the episode, Kate spoke with Roy about how they might be able to solve the case if they looked at Brady's murder conviction from ten years ago. Roy spoke against this since he wanted to maintain a focus on the two recent deaths. Richard defended Kate since he said that researching the beginning facets to a crime usually made everything else easier.
