Answer: The chapel

When the episode began, Sydney went to the chapel at Wilshire Memorial Hospital to pray for her sister, Jane. Sydney showed signs of regret for what she did to Jane that got Jane placed in the hospital. Just then, Kimberly entered the chapel and informed Sydney that the toxicology reports showed Jane had ingested medication that Sydney was prescribed by Kimberly.

Right after the opening credits, we saw Matt on the phone with someone at Wilshire Memorial Hospital. Matt asked for an update, on Jane's condition, but the person on the other end simply told him there was no change. Matt relayed the information, to Jake, who was in his apartment when Matt got this news.

Answer: Peter Burns

In Peter's first scene, he was on the phone and found out that he was being sued by a former client, for medical malpractice. He told Amanda that the person suing him claimed Peter triggered a nerve disorder while Peter performed surgery on the patient. Amanda reminded Peter that he had malpractice insurance, in case he lost the lawsuit, but Peter told her his career could be gone if he loses the suit.

Answer: Brooke Armstrong

Billy was at D&D Advertising and a co-worker came out to speak to him. The co-worker informed Billy that he got a call, from Wilshire Memorial Hospital, and that Brooke was there and Billy had to meet Brooke at the hospital Billy took off, for Wilshire Memorial Hospital, and he encountered Brooke outside the emergency room.

She told Billy that she miscarried their baby (in the previous episode, we found out that Brooke was not pregnant).

Answer: Allison Parker

Allison came by Billy's apartment to give Brooke a plant to express her condolences over Brooke's loss. It was at that time that Brooke informed Allison that she would get pregnant again with Billy's child. Brooke went to the other room and Allison spoke to Billy about his problems with Brooke. Right before she left, she wished Billy a happy new year.

Answer: Amanda Woodward

In the middle of the episode, Amanda spoke with Bobby Parezi and mentioned to him that Peter was feeling down since he was being sued. Bobby told Amanda that she could come stay with him, at his home in Florida, for New Year's. Amanda accepted Bobby's offer and Bobby was excited.

Answer: Michael Mancini

Michael was at his office and got a fax, from the hospital, about Jane's toxicology report. He saw, on the report, that Jane had ingested some medication and he saw the name of the medication. Sydney walked into his office and Michael took her purse and saw that same medication in her purse. Michael accused Sydney of drugging Jane but she denied his allegation. Michael opened up her pill bottle and saw that she had all 30 pills that Kimberly had prescribed her and none were missing. Michael assumed, after seeing this, that Sydney did not drug Jane (earlier in the episode, Kimberly gave Sydney a couple of pills to replace the ones she used to drug Jane).

Michael was seen, in one scene, wheeling out Jane in a wheelchair and both Jane and Michael came upon Kimberly in a hallway at the hospital. Michael spoke to Kimberly, privately, and questioned her about the drugs she prescribed for Sydney. Kimberly reminded Michael that she could not discuss Sydney's case due to doctor-patient confidentiality. Michael told Kimberly that it was just coincidental that the drugs she prescribed, to Sydney, were found in Jane's drink that caused Jane to collapse. Michael threatened Kimberly and informed her that, if she had anything to do with Jane's collapse, he would have her fired.

Answer: Dr. Fisher

Billy saw Michael and Jane at the hospital, and then ran into Brooke's doctor, Dr. Fisher. Billy said hi to Dr. Fisher and she told him she was so sorry and that what happened was so rare. Billy assumed that she meant miscarriages were so rare and he asked her since when were miscarriages rare. Dr. Fisher mentioned that Brooke never miscarried since she was never pregnant and she meant that she apologized for Brooke's blood work mix up, which claimed she was pregnant.

At the end of the episode, Billy went home to his apartment to look for Brooke. He could not find her but then he saw a note that she had left and he immediately went to the bathroom. When he got to the bathroom, he saw an unconscious Brooke, on the floor, with her wrists slit. Even though Brooke survived this attempted suicide, she died later on, in Season Four, when she fell into the pool, at the apartment complex, and hit her head.
